Title: Wipers won't turn off properly
Post by: weazgti on 16 September 2013, 11:33
My wipers don't stop when I go to switch them off and the intermittent setting isn't intermittent.
All speeds work but I have to click up and then down until I can manually park the wiper. So far I have changed relay and put in mk3 stalks and also changed fusebox (because of another issue) but no change.
Does the motor have anything in it that could affect it? Some sort of delay built in maybe

The motor has a switch internaly which opens at the park position. It seems, from your discription of the problem, that the switch is failing to open. You could possibly take the motor off and get at the switch. Might be better though to get another motor

Swap the relay first. Then take a look at the wiper stalk. They are dead easy to clean out. Some brake cleaner, some grease, and a flat head screwdriver. No need to buy new

I did that first. New stalks and tried a few relays.
Also changed fusebox because of other issues hoping it would cure this fault aswell but no joy. Only thing I have noticed is that a 99 relay gives me the fastest setting but a normal one just has one speed no matter where I put the stalk.
