For those lucky enough to have taken delivery of their cars, I was wondering how long did it take for your dealer to get the car ie. from the UK port to the dealer? I'm after the lead times prior to PDI (as I'm going to attempt to get them to PDI it within a day if possible).
I'm sure you've all mentioned it over various threads but I can't remember!
Thanks in advance!

Hey Mark... For me it was really quick. Mine arrived in the UK on a Wednesday and was delivered to the dealer on the Saturday! Unfortunately I wasn't able to take delivery until the following Saturday. Problem was I had to sign some registration document before they would register the car. I went in on the Monday to sign the paperwork, but then it took another 4 working days for the tax disc to reach the dealer.
However I have heard others on here driving away without the tax disc.
Good to hear yours is on the way mate.

It took mine approximately 6 days to move from the port to my dealer and then a further 3 before i could collect her

Thanks mate, hopefully mine will get delivered in that kind of time then!! I'm keeping everything crossed I get to pick it up Saturday IF it gets put on a transport today/tomorrow - am desperate to get in it now, its even more excruciating knowing I'm only 100 miles or so away from it
Thanks Craig - I really hope its less than 6 days for me so I get it for Saturday

3 working days after arrival – one of those days was clearing customs. My dealer told me that proximity to port and relatively high volume of cars that the dealership gets, they get their cars from portside very quickly. Most other dealerships typically wait around a week. A Scottish car from port of Tyne is going to take a lot longer to get to dealership than one going to Sunderland (8 miles away).
Mine was on a ship that arrived at port on Wednesday evening, cleared customs Thursday afternoon and was at dealership Monday morning. Collected Tuesday afternoon.

I would take that level of time frame!

Does anyone know the process of how the car gets shipped from the port? For example, does the dealer get an email asking them to arrange transport? I only ask as my dealer is off sick so if he has to request transport then he clearly hasn't done it yet....

No request – VW just send their transporters to the dealerships. My salesman reckoned they just arrive when VW UK want them to and at times they’ve had an unexpected delivery turn up quicker than anticipated (must be more planning to it than that, maybe the salesman isn’t privy to it but someone else at the dealership will be).

Nice one, in that case I can relax  was starting to worry that cause my dealer was off sick this meant my car would just sit in a car park in Sheerness collecting dust

My car is in the UK. No one to chase. I will wait. Until tomorrow and then start chasing people for a collection date. I was told earlier this month that it will be 25 September that I can collect.

Docked in Grimsby on Wed 18th Sept, delivered to dealer in Sthingyhorpe Sat 21st Sept, quite quick I suspect although it's only a 30 mile journey
