Hi all!
I'm happily back in a Golf GTi and I'd firstly like to mention she drives well! However I have noticed a couple of things which I wanted your opinion on...
1) the first thing I noticed (and this is intermittent) is that after driving the car and turning the engine off, there is an air "whistle" which lasts a couple of seconds and effectively sounds like something is 'winding down'.
2) when cold, the car starts first time but runs lumpy for literally a second or two then seems to idle smoothly with very very little idle fluctuation, it's worth mentioning that it does seem to be a little loud (in terms of engine volume) at this point.
I appreciate the best thing to start with is a Vag Com but I don't have one and only bought the car yesterday (privately) (if anyone in the St Ives - Cambridgeshire area has one I would be very grateful!!).. I wanted to get your views on the issues.
The car is a 2002 AUM with 79k and standard.
Thanks a lot!

Sounds like the secondary air pump (sai) is leaking
Look it up and look at either repairing it or blanking it off and removing like many others do.

I'd also say sai pump is at fault

yeah, mines was being loud, but recently its been quiet now.
Think of blanking it off myself, but really don't want any EML's on
