Title: Radio power issues
Post by: admc6 on 15 September 2013, 14:01
Hi

I decided to revert back to my original sony cd player (CDX-5090) in my MK3 GTI but seem to be having a few issues.

With the stock stereo in you can hear it power up, you press the reset button behind the face plate, and attach. I dont seem to get the power to the face plate (to tune etc) although it will let you insert and eject a cd. I have changed the 15A fuse connected to the CD player even though it did look ok.

If you then connect my replacement player (Alpine CDA-9847R) exactly in the same set up as i took it out. I get power on the first key turn point but when the cars started i dont seem to get any power. (I do have the red and yellow cables swapped)

I have changed the radio fuse 10A in position 22 but that didnt seem to do anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve primarily reconnecting the original player?

turn the ignition on, sonys are wired different and only usually come on with the full ignition on.

Not at all. I have also cleaned the connectors between the two.

Do you know what the pin connectors on the back of the sony relate to? Looks like the red cable had fallen out and im unsure which pin to reconnect to.
