Title: Pretty urgent. advice needed
Post by: Rod1-gti on 14 September 2013, 10:27
My car sounds like it has a noisy bearing at the rear but there's no play in either of them. The noise gets worse after enthusiastic driving but its fairly quiet again after being left for a time.

Is a grinding noise but it also squeaks when i reverse it. Ive had it jacked up to check play and when i spin the wheel thers a slight grinding but nothing overly unusual.

Any advice?

Cheers. i wondered if they may have been running dry or something. Im up grading my brakes soon so i guess ill put up with it til then.

Am i right in thinkin bearings make more of a whirring noise when they're knackard?

sounds like you have a small dog stuck inside your tyre. take out the valve and see if the barking gets louder just to confirm it.

nah im afraid that sounds much more serious. you wouldn't normally get wheal bearing noise just by rocking it slightly forwards and backwards. jack up other side and spin wheel see what that does.

Its all good. Panny had a look last night. The noise is brake associated, and the diffs fine. Phew. it'll be sorted today.
