My car sounds like it has a noisy bearing at the rear but there's no play in either of them. The noise gets worse after enthusiastic driving but its fairly quiet again after being left for a time.
Is a grinding noise but it also squeaks when i reverse it. Ive had it jacked up to check play and when i spin the wheel thers a slight grinding but nothing overly unusual.
Any advice?

Sounds like your brake pads to me.... mine sounded like a bus in reverse one of my callipers was stuck one
-
Cheers. i wondered if they may have been running dry or something. Im up grading my brakes soon so i guess ill put up with it til then.
Am i right in thinkin bearings make more of a whirring noise when they're knackard?
-
Yeh they normally get louder the faster you go
-
Mine do but its a grinding/sqeakin noise
-
Sounds like your rear brake pads are down to the metal go and take ur wheels off and inspect your pads mate see what condition your discs are in aswel

After driving home from work Im convinced it the drivers front bearing. it making a metallic ticking noise and speeds up with the car. quieter when turning left louder when turning right.

normal noise? Details in description.
-
sounds like you have a small dog stuck inside your tyre. take out the valve and see if the barking gets louder just to confirm it.
-
jokes aside that sounds like bad diff.
-
I wondered where my chihuahua went! Lol
Crap! My friend said it could just be end flow at the inner joint end.
-
nah im afraid that sounds much more serious. you wouldn't normally get wheal bearing noise just by rocking it slightly forwards and backwards. jack up other side and spin wheel see what that does.
-
Ffs! Upgrade to a 6 speed box then.

why you on about upgrading if the fault aint been diagfirmed?
-
Its all good. Panny had a look last night. The noise is brake associated, and the diffs fine. Phew. it'll be sorted today.
