Title: gt28rs turbo
Post by: sharki786 on 13 September 2013, 19:44
My mate is giving me a gt28rs turb. He said it does need rebuilding so will get beach buggies to have a lookie at it. Anyway my question is. Do i need to change the manifold for it to fit or can i fit it on the same k03 manifold? Other thing is, whats the max power you can get from one of these?

Correct me if im wrong, but..... A GT**** 1.8t build is surely going need a fairly serious build / spec?

Rods
pistons
manifold
down pipe
injectors & maf
fuel pump
etc etc !?

Yeah, it's definitely not a case of just sticking it on, its not a cheap conversion.

Depending on your current spec, I'd say set aside £1500 for it.

That was assuming he is being given the turbo for nothing

Ye lads its free. But does need rebuilding as the bearings are fooked. He had something missing on the oil feed pipe so oil was just pushing past the bearings and they wore out.

Beach buggy wants about 400 for rebuild :lipsrsealed:
Manifold - 500
Will a lcr fuel pump do?
Which injectors?

Me and my unc will be putting it together hopefully.

P.s beach buggy said about top mouting the turbo??

Gonna need:

Downpipe
Oil feed/return
Coolant feed/return
Air Intake pipe
Rods
New gaskets and bearings for engine while fitting rods which also means you might as well replace the rings
Bigger injectors (probably 550's from badger 5)
S3 maf or maybe bigger
Cupra r pump maaaaay be ok but would be safe to have a uprated pump
Custom fmic pipes I account for turbo bein in a different place

Etc

Not to mention a remap to get the most out of it. Also I would say Con Rods would need to be replaced too?

Yeah I said rods but your right will also need a map!
And also a clutch which is about £800
Your lookin at about 360 bhp and a good £2500+ in parts

£800 was a rough guess
I think paddle clutchs capable of 400bhp are about £500 plus vat but I'm not sure which is best!
