Title: Dragon breath on monza shadows?
Post by: Gtiless on 10 September 2013, 21:23
Is the dragon breath wheel cleaner safe for the polished monza shadows?
I have bought some and am now getting a bit twitchy!
Is it safe to use on paint as well?

Cheers.

Yes.  It's pretty much the same as IronX which is safe to use.  Smells pretty bad though.

me and my dad got some a few weeks back

ive been using iron x on wheels and bodywork no problem

i tried dragons breath on wheels and bodywork too and it worked fine.

as with both products just make sure you dont let it dry off and catch any runs after you rinse the car off

If you use wonder wheels then you run a very high risk of damaging your alloys. It is a corrosive cleaner that really only needs using when wheels are extremely dirty with burnt n brake dust and contaminants.

If you do decided to use then make sure you don't leave on too long and give the wheels a really good rinse afterwards.

Personally, normal shampoo and mitt/wheel woollies do the job - nothing more needed for the weekly wash.

That's all I ever need to do too, other than take them off and clean the insides with tar remover probably twice a year.

If the wheels have been sealed (which mine have since new) then soapy water is all that's needed

If its second hand or they have never sealed then to get them properly clean de-tar and wheel cleaning product is needed. Soapy water wouldn't shift the brake dust and tar spots on the mrs car when we bought it used

I have chemical guys diablo gel which I use as a wheel cleaner and to clean the bulky up brake dust on my brembos.

It's the best wheel cleaner ive tried

Never use wonder wheels! It's bad stuff

Dragon breath is handy as its a wheel cleaner (used it on my clio and worked quite well before sealing them properly). It's good as a fallout remover for paintwork so works out cheaper than iron x too.

If its a dedicated wheel cleaner go for CG diablo gel or wheel and body fallout/brake dust remover use dragon breath.

I used it on my Vancouver's which have polished faces and there was no harm done, the dirt did literally fall off mind too.

Evening all, got some DB but not in the spray bottle. Will it be ok to put into a normal bottle or will I need a special sprayer?

Cheers

I'm sure it will be fine just so long as you don't  apply too thick a layer.  If in doubt, buy a a sprayer and bottle   http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/accessories/empty-bottles-sprayers/cat_135.html

You can get standard or chemical resistant spray heads which may be better for stuff like DB and tar removers.  I always buy a few of these to use with wheel cleaner, tardis etc

I use this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Optimal-Performance-Wheel-Cleaner-and-Iron-Decontaminant-1L-/190784689468?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item2c6ba7553c

without question, the best wheel cleaner on the market.

How come you boys and girls who obviously like to keep your cars clean are letting your wheels get so dirty that they need a specialist cleaner? I've used nothing but shampoo with a splash of snow foam to thicken it up for years. Even if I've gone 3-4 weeks in winter without washing the car, that's all it's needed.

Haha, good point.  Can't speak for others, but on mine specialist cleaner (IronX) is used only couple of times a year, to tackle stubborn brake dust.  Rest of the time it's a squirt of bilberry wheel cleaner and the usual shampoo

x2

I only use a wheel cleaner  3 or 4 times a year, as it takes off all the protection. so I use that and re-apply for an easier clean in the interim period.
