Title: MK2 16v fuel system testing

OK I was wondering if someone can give me a quick and handy way of testing the fuel system in a mk2 16v.  I bought the car after it had lay up for a long time.

I know I'm being lazy, sorry.

Quick breakdown of what I've done so far.
Alarm removed (total mess of wires but I think I got everything)
Ignition system reconnected
Fuel pump relay replaced  Spark plugs and coil and leads replaced.

I have a blue spark so that appears to be all good.
Car is turning over with no problems at all.
I can hear the fuel priming when the key is turned to position 1.

So, I really just need a handy way of testing for fueling without replacing loads of parts I don't need to.  I have a spare 16v fuel system off my Corrado so worst case scenario I can replace the entire thing as I'm fitting throttle bodies to it.

Can anyone give me an order which everything can be checked.

Car electrics aren't a problem, neither is getting my hands dirty, but i'd rather not waste a lot of time on this as I can only really work on this car in the late evenings and need to get it running to get it moved into a garage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pull a injector out and see if you get a good spray of fuel from them, I'm having the same issues and injectors are blocked

Best to put the injector in a glass jar (much safer)

Pull an injector near to a large open flame so visibility is good.

I suppose that would be a start.

notenoughtime - is your car starting at all?

I have a set of spare injectors so I'll have them on standby as well.

Lots of posts on here about people lifting something in the metering head when they haven't been started for a while.
Not something I really know about but might be worth looking into

The plunger can stick if the car has not been used for a long time.

Fires then cuts out, plunger was sticking in metering head so I took it apart and freed off the plunger but still same issue, changed metering head but still same issue, so removed injectors and no1 no fuel, now pumps not working again so can't check rest of injectors till I sort the pumps.

You could crack union off to see if you are getting fuel at injector pipes first ontop off metering head, remove air pipe pull plunger up turn ignition on and see if you get fuel there
