Hiya guys, looking for a bit of help if possible. Spent a bit of time on the search function but can't find what i am looking for. The car has always been slightly lumpy when first started since we got it and then last week the temperature gauge failed. Replaced the sensor and all is fine with that and i don't think it is connected but thought i'd say. Anyway, the car now when started chugs and won't rev off the throttle. Blip the throttle as you start it and keep it revving and it is ok (slightly lumpy but ok). Then 30 seconds along the road and back and all is good until the the first cold start the next day. Once it has been started it is fine all day, runs and pulls well and basically doesn't miss a beat.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Benny.

When you changed your temp sensor did you change it for a gen part? Your problem could be a number of things, but if it was my car I would do the following:
*From cold start the car with the MAF unplugged.
*Ring VW and see if the car has been bck sonce the AUM recall if it hasnt get it booked in its free and you get 4 bran new coil packs.
*Clean the thottle body, i say this alot but trust me it fixes alot of issues.
*scan the car for error codes

Wasn't a gen part bud but been back in for the recall a couple of months ago and the only code i'm getting is the standard boost leak code that i've been getting for a while (before this issue). Haven't done a TB clean or start with the MAF unplugged so will try both. The SAI is really quite noisy, could that be anything to do with the issue. Have found the link below where it appears it can separate and leak! Just wonder if it's not getting enough air in.

Your sai will not cause that, it only kicks in for the 1st 90sec

I used a cheap temp sensor once, it lasted a few days
I'd only ever buy genuine temp sensors and thermostats.

It's only for the first 30-60 secs immediately after the first start of the day that it does it bud.

Actually it is whenever the engine is cold, not just once a day
