Title: Sloppy gear knob...
Post by: Outlawsaffa1982 on 09 September 2013, 00:36
Chaps I have a very sloppy gear knob at the moment, I'm assuming its the linkages that have worn down and are in need of replacing... I have had a look on eBay, but can only find a linkage kit for the 8v gti. Does anyone know if there is one on eBay or a different alternative?

Oh!!! This is for a 97 vr6 :)

Has anyone converted over to the mk4 shifter on their mk3 vr6? Have seen a few posts online where people have done it... Undecided if its a good move or not???

The 02J set up is a worthy modification if you've got the time and bit of spannering ability as you need to change the shift tower, cables and shift lever box which requires a bit of fettling and tweaking of the central floor tunnel so that it can bolt into place.

Failing that you could always freshen up your current 02A linkage with the following parts...

The last time i checked you could also get the rest of the worn out crappy plastic shift tower components from the main dealers.
