Hello guys
I recently upgraded my 06 1.9TDi Jetta (single mass fly wheel) to a 2011 GT TDI Golf, I'm the 2nd owner and the Golf has 26k. I bought used and approved from VW 3 weeks ago and have done around 600 miles.
The clutch begins to bite 1/3 from the floor but feels/seems to fully release near the top of the peddle, is the normal? No slipping or vibrations.
If I release the clutch slightly quick in 1st or 2nd the car jerks/launches forward.
Gear changes are smooth.
What is your MK6 like?

Sounds nice. The GT is a cracking all round car in my opinion. Shiny Skoda Yeti exhaust tips are a must tho'. The best £25 you'll spend on it.

Is the bite supposed to get higher with motorway driving? Around town it seems to be 1/3 from the floor however, on the motorway it goes a little higher. Or after fast speeds

My MK6 GTI was the same i noticed it mostly in multistorey carparks, the MK7 is much smoother.

I was literally just about to post about something similar with my own MK6 GT TDI 2.0. Some mornings when im taking off, as im coming off the clutch in first gear (only happens in first gear), theres shuddering from the engine, the kinna shuddering you get when its going to konk out, but im giving plenty of revs. If i stop the car then take off again, it will happen again but not as bad as the first time, then as it warms up it goes away. It also does it in reverse. The car has just hit 12k and is a year and 4 months old :/ Is this something to worry about?

I think it's normal, i'm now on 27k and there is no slipping at all.

Shuddering sounds like the dual mass flywheel to me.
Does it give a little shake when you turn the engine off?

Not that ive noticed, ill be out tonight so ill check then. My driveways on a bit of an incline and i reverse in so i drive slightly uphill which seems to make it a little worse. Its just annoying paying all that money for a car do do silly things like this. Ive also started to hear the dreaded door seals rub where the velvet meets the paintwork :(

What's about about the seals?
Mine doesn't shudder at all and no vibrations when switching the car off. Also do you hear any vibrations while not in gear with the engine running?

Many a MK6 owner have reported having sqeaking/squelching noises coming from the door seals when driving on unevenroads or into/out of a driveway etc, the noise can be recreated by simply pushing on the rubber seal (inside or out). Its where the velvet type part of it closes on the metal paintwork around the frame of the door, bloddy annoying, ive only noticed it after giving the car a wax so im assuming its something to so with freshly waxed paint, might rub some alcohol around the door to try to remove the wax.
There are no vibrations or anything while not in gear, all gear changes are also smooth and she pulls like a freight train :) Just really annoys me when i fire her up and i get that stupid shudder when coming off the clutch in first gear, sometimes it can be really bad, only lasts literally 2 or 3 seconds and sometimes it doesnt happen at all :/

OK, So i was out today for a while and there is a slight vibration/shudder when i switch the car off, but nothing serious as ive never noticed it before until i actually investigated it. Im pretty sure its just the engine quickly slowing down & coming to a halt. Its not the same vibration I get when im starting the car for the first time.
As I said, its the kinna shudder you get if you were for example, driving at 15mph and put the car into 4th gear where the revs would not be high enough for that gear, and the engine shudders and almost knonks out, but i literally only feel it for 2 or 3 seconds but if i were to stop working the clutch & accelerator, i could make it last longer (if that makes sence)
Do you guys think its something I would need to contact the dealer about? The car is May 2012, 12000 miles.

I think that our issues are different.
I do not get any shudder when coming out of gears, what I do get sometimes is an engine spooling sound if i'm giving it a bit more than usual while changing from first gear.
My clutch seems to fully engage at the top of the pedal, it feels like it just catches at the final release point. I have no slipping etc
Mate, your car is under warranty, book it in to a dealer and have them take a look. I've read cases where they'll just change the clutch and DMF under warranty without too many questions asked as VW HQ pay anyway.
Why drive your self mad, get it booked in, be polite and have it changed.
If the DMF was on its way out you would normally feel the DMF vibrate/rumble when not in gear with the engine on, this would be apparent and you'll feel it through the gear stick. when you shut the engine off, you'd here that rumble even louder for a good 1-2 seconds once the engine is switched off.

Im based in Belfast. I think i will get it booked in for a check-up, only thing is, I work at an airport and its a nightmare with getting a new temp pass for the loan car. And the other thing putting me off it having my car stripped apart. I left my car in for a service in May, and since they clean the car for me, i didnt wash it for 2 or 3 weeks. When i picked the car up, it actually looked dirtier than when I left it in. Someone literally ran a hose over it and there was filthy black handmarks on the bonnet, the headlights, both front alloys and on the seats. They also replaced a part of the seat for me as it was squeaking and they broke the clips on the runners so every time i let someone in the back, my seat goes right back, rather than stoping on the part of the runner that I want it too :(
ANYWAY (lol) yes I think I will give them a call today as there is no harm in doing so. The worst thing about it is if im bringing a member of my family out somewhere, and the notice it and mention it. I take it your out of warranty?

You should get all your issues resolved at the same time, maybe call VW customer care and let them no about the seat issue and the dealers valet standards.
Don't let the dealers run rings around you, we pay good money for these cars. I'm still in warranty and only purchased my car 8 weeks ago.
I will be getting mine booked in soon, just to be safe.

Your right, all this money for cars that stress us out. This is my second MK6. I purchased one back in 2009 when they only got released, i was actually the dealers first tornado red model to be collected! Issues with this car included a rattley engine, faulty air-con, a window which just randomally dropped on the motorway (and wouldnt go back up) while it was -4 outside, it wouldnt start several times and I had to call the AA twice and last but not least, a leak from the passenger door and i had to actually contact VW CEO as they were not going to replace my carpet which had turned fusty and mouldy, they did in the end, oh and several rattles.
They give me a real good deal on my current car thats the only real reason i went for it but i really hope this one isnt the same. Im off to new york for 2 weeks in November so I might see if they can take my car then, fingers crossed! Yes ill record it and post it up as soon as I can.

OK so last week i was spending a few days in Kildare which ment 2 x 140 mile journeys Belfast - Kildare. Made both these journeys in just over 2 hours with the cruise control set at 80mph (which is the Republic of Ireland speed limit of in/around 125kph) (And may i add that i got 55mpg on the way and 58mpg on the way back with 4 people, a full boot and a full tank of fuel :))
Anyway, my car hasn't did that weird shuddering in first gear since, even yesterday morning and this morning for my cold 4am work start (first time this year ive got the de-icer out)
So im thinking, might this have been something to do with fuel? Or maybe the DPF? (I do alot of short journeys)
Hopefully thats it sorted :)

That MPG is like mine, best I've had since ownership is 64MPG.
It sounds like you just needed a good old run, keep an eye on things.
Mine is at the dealers as we speak, they are investigating the moving bite point, it seems to be worse in stop start motorway traffic.

Well a bit of an update.
Clutch was unevenly worn and the fly wheel out of tolerance = new fly wheel and clutch kit.
Didn't cost me anything and covered from the dealership I purchased from.
