Alright chaps,
First post so go easy.
Just purchased a mk4 GTI 1.8 150hp and some Audi A8 18" Replica Alloy Wheels not sure on the tyre size yet as it doesn't say in the description but I' looking to lower it.
Im going to go with Eibach springs and possibly 20mm spacers on the back and 15 on the front, don't want to get coilovers as I cant stand feeling every pebble driven over.
Has anyone else gone with the 45mm front and 35mm back set up for sale on ebay, if so what is it like? And does it even lower it much as I know on GTI models it doesn't lower it as much as stated on the box.
and can anyone let me know if they have any issues with the spacers on big alloys, I like the stance of the golf with spacers but there not a must.
Looking forward to getting it slammed, got a 312mm disks and big calipers going on and it's booked in for a stage 2 remap with turbo-back milltek setup.
Also the alloys are scuffed and need a refurb, I think there diamond cut and new lacquer needs to be applied, im in Rugby, midlands when im in the UK can anyone suggest a good refurb shop.
Thanks for reading.

A 40mm drop will make a difference but it will not be slammed as such, only way to get it really low is coilovers.

If your from iraq i wouldn't lower it bet the roads are shocking over there lol

haha no pal just work here.
Will I get away with 18's 20mm spacers and a 40mm drop all round?
I cant find any Eibach springs with 40mm all round drop for mine. only 45mm front 35mm rear.
Dont want coilovers tbh, had them before and the ride was horrific.

This was mine when I was running coilies... 18x8" wheels ET35 all round with 20mm rear spacers and 15mm front. Drop was as low as they went so somewhere around 80mm.
You'll get away with what you have proposed easily.

could have just been the type etc. but when iv been in cars with springs and shocks the ride hasent been much worse than coilovers... even on 30-40mm drops...
but what youv said id imagine would be fine.

Did you have to adjust anything else when you dropped it 80mm Dom or was it just a case of putting the coilovers on? Which ones did you use if you don't mind me asking? and Is the ride hard now?
Looks sweet btw, mines the 5 door in black aswell, wouldn't mind an end product looking similar to yours!

I had to swap the anti roll bar for an s3 one because otherwise it would have rubbed on the driveway. The drop might have been more than that, not too sure tbh.
They were JOM coilovers and the ride was pretty bad running that low. It's on air now so it's lower and much more comfortable
