Title: VIP day at the stealers
Post by: Snooze on 03 September 2013, 19:23
Does anyone else keep getting these VIP day invites from their local stealer? Gets annoying when I know I have another year to run on my lease before I can end the term early. Makes me want a new car already!

Funnily enough I got one today.A VIP event in Bolton,the showroom is closed to the rif raf and a complimentary car wash and valet whilst they try and flog a car to me.Until the new R is available,I am sticking with mine,still enjoying owning/driving it.

Haven't had a VIP invite but I had received a cryptic letter from my dealer when I got home form work today. It read;

'GOOD NEWS..!!

Our dealer principal Mr xxxxx xxxxxxx has asked me to contact you regarding some good news about your existing vehicle.

Could you please call me on xxxxx xxx xxx quoting reference number XX-XXX123 for further information

THIS IS NOT A CIRCULAR. YOU ARE A NOMINATED CUSTOMER REQUESTED BY VOLKSWAGEN UK FROM OUR EXISTING CUSTOMER RECORDS.'

I'm assuming it's just a ploy to get me into the showroom so they can make me an 'unbeatable' offer for my current car, and try to persuade me to sign up for a new mk7 GTD!!

Has anyone else received a similar letter?

Makes me glad I own an old second hand Mk5 and do all my own servicing. The atmosphere in my local dealer is quite horrid, a sort of desperate air (it's hard to describe). The staff seem so false and I am quite certain will lie openly to customers about practically everything.

The only place I feel more uncomfortable in is an estate agents; at least in the VW garage you can have a free coffee and analyse the models...

i hate this stuff, my dealer is part of a larger group and they are really relaxed to deal with on the sales and servicing side of things

they do however, have f"ck wits who work in a central group office who phone me to repeatedly about booking the wife's car in for an MOT as if you don't have a clue

I got a call today telling me that according to their records, my Passat was due for two tyres and would I like to book it in? Do they think, or hope, I don't know when I need new tyres?

Funny thing is, it could do with a pair of rears soon, but I'm nursing them along until my winter wheels and tyres can go on. I can then give my current wheels a damn good clean ready for some fresh summer tyres over the winter. One thing is for sure, I'm not letting the dealers anywhere near my diamond cut wheels.
