Title: Will a 1.4 16v gearbox work with my 2.0 16v gti engine

Will a 1.4 16v gearbox work with my 2.0 gti? I have the drive shafts from the 1.4 and think all i need is the 1.4 clutch and cable is that right? any help would be great.

I will say I'm out! (that means know, even the 8v 020 box can't handle the 16v power! :grin:)

(084/5 is the same box as used in the rover 200 :nerd:)

Post by: gazareth on 03 September 2013, 00:03: some off the mk3 boxes had a dual bolt pattern. I had a mk3 1.4 box to put in my mk2 gti but in the end I just swapped the 5th gear cogs only.

Post by: Wayne on 05 September 2013, 21:33: Even if it did fit why would you want to use it, all the ratios will be wrong plus it is made of cheese the gearbox is a known weakspot.
