Title: Milltek
Post by: Hali on 01 September 2013, 08:21
Hi everyone I'm a newbie just got me a 5dr gti 150 bhp aum engine  lovin it,

I want a milltek cat-back resonated but I've read the resonater box might knock about is this true?
I've been told resonated is more quiet than the stock exhaust but once opened up it sounds good anyone got a resonated cat-back?

Thanks

Taken directly from the Miltek website see here..

Q.   What is a resonator and what's the difference between a resonated and non-resonated exhaust system?
A.   A resonator is a chamber in the exhaust system that contains a specific volume of air which is designed to cancel out certain frequencies of sound (made by the engine) - making the exhaust noise quieter.

Therefore, a non-resonated exhaust system will give you extra performance and a louder exhaust note and the resonated system will give you extra performance without increasing the exhaust noise much.

So it will increase the noise a little, so it should sound a lot nicer than stock,
What about the resonater box will it knock about read somewhere it might rattle against something?

To be fair that sounds like complete crap to me, no "Preformance system" should "rattle" if done correctly and if you go to a approved dealer it will have a life time garantee :)

I paid £700 for a milltek with a sports cat, then had to fit a decat pipe after the sports cat shat its internals after less than 15000 miles.

Cars life of MOTs could of been covered with the difference between decat & sports cat downpipe and had that bit more power

I had the non resonated version on my tdi bora. It did sound really good to be honest. A bit louder than normal but a lovely note!
