Title: Who needs a fancy gym and personal trainers. . .. ..
Post by: JC on 29 August 2013, 20:17
All it takes is a VERY bad photo of yourself,

a LOT of will power  :lipsrsealed:

and a fair amount of motivation ( cheers slick and others  )

and you can make a difference

Was knocking on 20 stone in early june

and now with a gradual change of what I eat, gentle but regular and increasing exercise ( not allowed to go banzai with a dodgy ticker and back ) I have not only dropped down thru 18st but have now dropped under 18st for the first time in 15 years

17st 11 (http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/dancing-with-joy-smiley-emoticon.gif)

Now for the real battle, to keep dropping and not undo all the hard work  :undecided:

:afro:

well done.

try not to fall back into bad habits.

was a lad at my work who used to put away serious amounts of food. for him to be at the high end of "normal" weight for his age and height he had to loose the equivalent to my weight... he went from about 23 stone to about 18, then started comfort eating when he got told he was moving offices, within a month he had gone back up a good stone or two...

What is comfort eating. Sorry to be totally ignorant but if I ever get depressed I never think "I know there's a Curly Wurly in the cupboard, that'll sort me right out". Then again I'm a pretty happy go lucky guy.

Great mate.

My advise is never give up!!

I was 17 stone and 18 months later im just under 13 stone.

My goal is 12s.7lb

also 6 months ago I f**ked my back through running. (Still aches every day) This made me more determined to loose it and not give up.

Ive learnt that best way to loose weight is clean eating. You can exercise all you want but if your still eating crap then you wont loose it.

You can eat 2kg of salad/veg a day and still be less than 2000 calories.  You do not starve your body as it stores fat.

Keep it up.

Aye, diet and a reduction in a certain kind of alcohol consumption has helped greatly  :lipsrsealed:

I do still indulge every now and then

No target to aim for, as all the guidelines say I should be 14st

Doing it cos I can, unlike the last 25 years where I was getting told to

And you are lucky you haven't had to either deal with the cause of or the after effects of comfort eating. Try being confined to your house, not allowed downstairs for 3 months as climbing the stairs to use the loo could cause you harm, not allowed to drive for 5 months, no action movies, no games consoles, no sex. God knows how dole dossers cope. It drove me fcuking nuts for 15 months doing fcuk all every day

I guess it's one of those things you never really can sympathize with unless you've been there.

How comes that all happened?

the main thing is the lifestyle change... the weight will follow accordingly, you're not crash dieting which is the main thing

think what you're doing is great

Keep it up!

Diet and Alchohol is the most important part.

Exercise will help with fitness, but not so much in weight loss!

Fair play mate! I've just started myself as obviously I have to diet when the missus does!

Just been having smaller portions. I used to eat until I was full, now I'm having less on my plate but still not feeling any hungrier at meal times than before. Cycling to work (although it only takes 15 minutes each way!) has helped me feel a little better too. No idea what I weigh now, and I didn't know before either. Somewhere around 14 1/2 stone I think. I'm not one to worry about my weight, but I feel better for it now and I'm doing it for myself rather than a bloody fat arsed scab lifter telling me I'm overweight and need to loose weight at work!

Keep it up buddy!
