Hello
I have ordered a gti in white with the pp pack I just wondered if the basic sat nav would be a good option to have especially when I come to sell it on.Thanks
-
Do you need or use a sat nav? If you dont then dont order it. If you need sat nav then order it.
-
Depends how you sell it.
If you p/x with a dealer it will likely make no difference. If its a private sale its possible you'll have less interest due to not having the nav but its probably not a big deal, certainly not enough to make you need to spec it for that reason alone.
The questions are:
- Do you need nav?
- Are you happy with a TomTom?
If the answer is you need it but don't like the TomTom personally I think you gain little adding the basic nav, you need to add pro.

I don't particularly follow Bears logic of "if you want nav, you might as well add pro", as it's an extra grand on top, and however you cook it, you will lose money on it regardless of private sale or trade. It might make it slightly more desirable and an easier private sale, but for me, what you go for (nothing, standalone, basic or pro) comes down to three basic questions:
1. Do you need nav at all?
2. Do you want to avoid having wires trailing, and enjoy integration with the multicolour MFD?
3. Can you justify an extra grand to upgrade to pro nav?
It's almost pointless thinking about future returns. Just think about how much use you will get out of it yourself while you have the car.

I don't think any options will really help with resale values but the nav is a nice addition to have. The standard nav is perfectly adequate however the nav pro is the dogs danglies and the 8" screen is just awesome. Makes the dash look complete

Yes - I would spec sat nav as it is just so useful, it's always there when you need it. To be honest 90% of the time my Scirocco is just displaying the map and I am not using navigation, it is an expensive luxury, but go for it if your budget can stretch to it.
I would probably opt for the pro, if I ever order a GTI.

I personally don't see the point in that touch screen being there without having the nav. Pro nav would be nice for the bigger screen but in my opinion is not worth thee extra grand.

The basic sat nav is a pretty good system to be fair. The integration with mfd screen is great and even the traffic updates seem to have been quite good so far. I would say because the interaction with the mfd is so good I cannot see the point in having the pro nav just for the screen. The audio system in the nav is also good with clear directions and even place names and roads are instructed to you.
