Title: Forge Twintercooler
Post by: jhunter_83 on 29 August 2013, 12:52
Just looking for people's view on the above and have anyone got one fitted?

Also, is it worth buying over getting another intercooler?

Thanks

I think a new clutch should be top of your shopping list mate

Clutch seems to be fine now, not had any other issues with it, ill upgrade as soon as theres any slippage. theres enough money in the pot for it!

Although I'm bluefin stage 1 when I go stage 2 I will be going apr as there maps don't seem to be as severe as revo maps.

I plan not to change my clutch until k04

Alex at AKS really rates the THS intercooler over the twintercooler option,
I have fitted the Forge intercooler and Twintercooler bit of overkill I think but I certainly don't get any heat soak    I only fitted them both because I got them very cheap

You can see mine through the front lower grill

How do you find the k04 as a everyday driver? I am 90% sure I am going down that route.

I don't see much difference in the K04 over the IHI turbo when driving normally, apart from the boost comes in a little later and the Turbo is noisier over standard form but not in a bad way,  mine is DSG tho so that might make a difference in drivability over a manual box,
The manual box might feel a little laggy low down ? But it's something you adjust to and soon get use to it,
When out on the open road it's a different story, as soon as the pedal hits the floor all hell breaks loose and it just pulls n pulls were as the IHI soon runs out of puff up in the rev range, it's not stupidly torque steering all over the place it's very composed if you drive it correctly and control the power with your right foot it's great ! Or if you want you can drive like a cock and wheelspin it in 3rd gear you can do,

Couple the K04 with the Powervalve BCS and on full chat the sound is incredible, it is by far the best exhaust that I've ever had on a car and I've had a few lol

Would you recommend anything other than exhaust, and cooler before going k04?

That's all you need really as you've already got a CIA
If you wanted max benefits a Revo throttle pipe and Neuspeed discharge pipe wouldn't go a miss
