Me and Sam were confirmed the same week and due to build week commencing 01/09/13.
Lets see what happens!

Mine is finally in transit, as of this morning (checked tracker 11pm last night and was “in build”, checked this morning at 6am and it has changed). If it didn’t change over at midnight following actual status change earlier in the day, then it would appear that the tracker updated in real time and my car would’ve been built Sun to Mon over the 30 hour construction time. In that case it was a full 2 weeks late – not looking good for those expecting theirs to be built on their actual stated build week.
-
@sam & valenni - Im due for build on 1st September and ive got pure white gtd too. Have they batched pure whites together??
-
My Tornado Red GTD is also due for build 1/9/13 (BW36)... fingers crossed there is a transporter bringing all our GTD's over to NI at once!

Glad to hear MH. Don't know how you and the others who entered BW only to see nothing happened have coped, but good to see your car has made it through finally!

Good news.
I found the tracker was up to 5-7 days out of sync with the info my dealer was able to get. Depends on when the next person scans a barcode that the status will change. As it turned out it took about 4 weeks from build to keys in hand.
Hopefully you get lucky with boat consignments and its not sat in the dock yard for weeks !!
-
I suppose coping is relative to what you already have. I don’t feel short-changed with the Scirocco I already have. If I was sitting in something I wasn’t enjoying then the wait could’ve been a lot worse. At times though, I have thought, “should I just keep the Scirocco another year?”.
Anyway, the wait isn’t over until it’s ready to pick up.
If a miracle were to happen in that it got on the “city of Rome” today, was in port of Tyne tomorrow as a result and my dealer got through the red tape at dockside to get it to the dealership for Friday/Saturday like he did for my dad’s – Sunday 1st Sept pickup is possible.
More likely it’ll get to Emden for the middle of next week, get on a ship sometime around the 20th September and be available on Sept 24th. I go on holiday to Mexico for 2 weeks on Sept 23rd.
Hoping the tracker is 5-7 days out of sync with reality. Doubt it though. As of last Tues or Weds (can’t even remember when I last bothered VW UK) the car hadn’t even been started, so I think completion Friday night, 23rd Sept was the best I could hope for (if it was started immediately after my phone call).

Well just called VW.
Now being told WK39 - still unconfirmed
That's 2 weeks delay from when I last asked

I think they have ran out of the oryx white undercoat and have cleared the painting tanks and added pure white premium paint!

It's either a colour thing, a location thing or a dealer thing. :-)
I can't see it being colour related as I thought the frames were sprayed in another part of the factory and are in fact just another 'part'. The assembly just takes the parts and builds them.
Looking at that VW factory video all different cars of different colours were being built.
I also can't see it being a location thing, as building cars destined for Northern Ireland seems a bit silly.
But dealer allocation could be a factor as Sam and I ordered from the same dealer.

Well as Valenni says we ordered from the dealer who claim to have 60% of all VW sales in NI. My dealer told me that I was the first person to order a GTD from them, so in theory, mine should be one of the first GTD's in NI.

Rik - I take it you are still on with factory status on the tracker then? I would expect BW39 to get confirmed on tracker this Friday...

If it does get confirmed this Friday - I will be a lot happier :)

Yeah, looks nice. I saw a GTD in CSG the other day and I wasn't sold on that colour and wheel combo. With the grey/silver accents on the GTD, red works really well.

May just be my opinion as well, but I love these alloys!!!! More so than these 19" santiagos. Bit neddy perhaps but i already have plans for a revo remap when it comes out, break callipers painted like the sport and sound package you get in Ireland and darker tints. Should look quality in deep black...I hope  Spoke to the sales lad Ive ordered my car through earlier, hes driving about in a GTD. Going down Sunday for a spin, cant wait

Agreed, they are better than the 19s, but for me, not as nice as the 18s on the GTI - biased naturally! It'll look stunning in DPB...when clean...good luck with that! ;)

DBP is better ... provided you clean it. (Ah, Gryzor you beat me to it, ha)
TR on a GTD is hard to beat.

I passed a white GTD the other day on the road so only got a quick look at it.
First impressions were, that Golf looks different somehow as it was approaching but I wasn't blown away.
Which is a disappointment as I'm hoping that to be my next car.
I don't even think it had DRLs on it and if they were on they certainly never stood out.
Did the early GTD/GTIs have Xenon lights with the DRLs around them?

The launch model demo GTI I drove at Vindis Cambridge did have them. I had the sales chap turn them on so I could see, but I didn't snap any pics. The "U's" were there though.

For me that's all part of the appeal - it doesn't jump out and scream, "look at me", but it's different enough from the normal Golf.

If you are BW35 confirmed, you probably are looking at an extra 2 weeks. The disparity is weird though - we've had BW33 cars built early on in BW33, the TR ones getting built in BW35, and no explanation as to why.
The dealers will have to moan more to VW for them to sit up and take notice, they're clearly not listening to the paying customer. Not sure whether VWUK are genuinely apathetic or got that way because they get shat on by VW Germany (lack of info), then sh!t on us - sh!te rolls downhill alright!
-

No, the DBP will look fierce also. It's just the waiting that makes you have 2nd thoughts.

My dad's DBP GTD looks mean when immaculate but he's regretting it as he's not keen on washing it a few times a week. There are pics of it here somewhere - probably in new arrivals around the start of July.

It will probably be coming into Sheerness. You can look out for ships leaving Emden for Sheerness on various websites, but to know which ship your car is actually on will require VW UK or your dealer's knowledge.

Out of curiosity, how long after build (stage 4) on the online tracker does it update to transit I'm hearing mixed things.

How off topic can one thread get? Wow, you'll like this,

I like to think a man like Hattori Hanzo oversaw the making of my car.....
Hattori Hanzo: [in Japanese; subtitled] I am finished doing what I swore an oath to God 28 years ago to never do again. I've created, "something that kills people." And in that purpose, I was a success. I've done this because, philosophically, I am sympathetic to your aim. I can tell you with no ego, this is my finest sword. If on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut.
Oh come on VW, sort it out

Mine showed as in build on the Monday it was due, didn't actually start getting built until mid-week, and was in transit by the following Monday. Total time to dealer was just 2.5 weeks from the start of the actual build.

Totally agree Gryzor but I only knew it was somehow different, my 2 teenagers who are learning my car ways and are always pointing out GTI/GTD's to me didn't even notice anything different. They thought it was a plain Golf.
Now there is understated and understated
Maybe it wasn't an actual GTD but just had the badge on the front as now I think about it, it definitely didn't have DRL's on or they didn't stand out enough and I missed them.

Moved to build in progress on the last sunday of that week 18th aug
Moved to in transit at some point between thur 22rd - fri 23rd

I've passed a Mk7 GTD on the motorway and it stood out immediately. Just the double barrel exhaust and single badge on the left of the car were enough to give it away. When they hit the brakes, the fantastic LED lights appeared, and when I got in front you could clearly see the DRLs and the very different front grille with its fog lights tucked away.

Maybe we need a delay poll for cars actually confirmed built (i.e. status is “in transit”) since the shutdown (confirmed BW32 and on) to determine the effect of the 2 week or so delays some of us have been experiencing. So anyone with a confirmed build coming up can get an idea of current delays. Data from people who did get their cars built on time is just as important as that from late cars.
Body colour seems to have an effect on delays or not e.g BW33 white cars seemed to be getting built on time from the posts I have seen, whereas Tornado Red seemed to have most potential for a delay in BW33. We might find though that a higher % of cars get delayed as time goes on if they’re not handling the backlog well.
So maybe we need to ask for:-
Confirmed build week
Day car first tracked as “in transit”
Colour
Then maybe we can get some live graphs plotted of average delay vs car colour etc, with the delay count being number of days since end of confirmed build week. For me that would start the count on 18th Sept (1 week after BW33 started) and end the count Monday (26th) = 8 days.

Just off the phone to VW CS - my unconfirmed BW38 has been pushed back to an unconfirmed BW39. No reason why.
Already knew it had been pushed back as tracker still showing with factory so fingers crossed it changed this weekend.
At least its not BW51 (yet!!!) and only a 1 week slip.

I don't want to p155 on your optimism but I was a confirmed BW 33 only went to being built at the start of bw34 the guy at the dealership emailed me on Tuesday to say its being built and will update by the end of the week to in transit. Spoke to VWCS they suggest that it's in the backlog after the closure of plant and what was estimated a mid sept collection is now more realistic in mid oct. so a 10 day dealt in build translates to a 30 day delivery delay. It's a right mess. The guy at VWCS also said that all dealerships were advised that a new model production in the first year would be a minimum estimated 20 weeks from order to collection. I did tell them in no uncertain terms that this is very dif to what I was told when ordering. I'm so sick of this sh1t.
Vw couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel.

TBH I'm just glad its not a BW51 like others - a small delay of a few weeks isnt a major issue for me but agree they cant seem to organise anything properly and the whole thing is a shambles!
Hope they get yours sorted ASAP.

Saw 2 GTD this weekend in flesh a Midnight Blue and the Pure White next day and they very much have their own presence that sets them aside
Midnight Blue was not even a colour would choose from outset but from seeing in flesh I would happily own - sat inside to and what a great place to sit

I just used the contact us number on the web.
The last (and only) time I called the Exec office I got a bit of a bollocking for calling and asking how I got the number etc so I thought I'd give the other a try and got a quick answer.
Just back from test driving a 5Dr DSG GTD and all I can say is WOOOOHOOOOO!
My Mk6 GT was in for a service and just thought I'd ask when picking it up (not the dealer I've ordered with).
Had the pro nav, keyless and winter pack on it. Pro Nav is the dogs b******s but I def couldnt justify the £1800 for it. Nice extra if you can afford it. Keyless was pretty cool. Needle sweep on pressing the button was a nice touch.
Was white (think pure not Oryx) and never thought I'd like a white car but it does set off all the black accents on the car.
Must take back what I said about Agnews on another post - got a great long (1hr) test drive even though it was rush hour. Got caning it a fair few times and just love the (fake) noise in the cabin!!
After test driving a GTI a couple of weeks ago I was thinking maybe I made the wrong choice but deffo the right choice for me (GTD) jumping from my current car. Didnt notice a massive difference from GTI->GTD but I'm not a big petrol head and didnt get to hammer the GTI as much as I did the GTD.
Each to their own on what choice they make but whatever you have made you will undoubtedly enjoy it!
Big wide smile for the whole test drive!
Other pics posted by another user before so didnt get many pics (was in a rush too and iPhone was being a PITA).

Well I have had a bit of a week with VW, Just before I went on holiday I got told that my car had slipped from BW38 to 51. just what you need when you are trying to relax in the sun but all you can think of is how much is it going to cost if I ring VWCS from abroad.
When I got back I rang VWCS and got through to Ms disinterested who told me that there is no point looking into it as it will not move and its definitely BW51. So I decided to cancel, had a look round for a few cars on the internet and set off to Peterborough to have a look around (Mk6 GTI was the first on the list).
I decided to stop in at the dealer in Stamford to let him know the plan. He completely understood but had a look at the system to see what the current info is and guess what..... I'm back to BW39
So I'm not cancelling, only a few weeks left to wait.
I think VW knocked a lot of orders back to see who would cancel, now that a fair few have gone we have been reinstated (just about) so thanks Bill, enjoy your BMW.
Lets hope I stay at BW39

Bill had a GTI on order, not a GTD

Picky Picky, still one less car the factory has had to build

That's good news mate - lucky you didn't go through with it and cancel - or did you and the dealer decided to keep the order for themselves?

Why would VW knock orders back to see who would cancel? That makes no sense at all

Everybody likes a good conspiracy theory!

Sometimes I think VW CS like to mess with our minds. If you've been determined to have been a bit arsey with them they'll tell you BW51! Or, it really is BW51 but the dealer wants to keep your business, so he tells you it is still BW39. If you really are BW39 then you should definitely be getting confirmed on the tracker tonight or tomorrow as "build week confirmed".
-
My order tracking information moved from 4 to 3 weeks this morning, finally I see the light at the end of this very very long tunnel.....good news indeed.....

At no point have I ever been arsey with them, I only called them because I had just sold my car and wanted to know that things were still on track, which they weren't.
According to the dealer it was showing as week 51 for 1 week then went back to week 39. He showed me on his system so either its true (for now) or he is playing massively complicated mind games.
Another theory is that although my BW has slipped I actually feel ok with it because its not BW51!
Maybe VW are playing mind games.
Or most likely is that they haven't got a clue what is going on and its all controlled by Klaus the cleaner in Wolfsburg
I am hoping it will go BW confirmed overnight but I thought it should be there by now.

Ricepop: You should find out on what date that the factory officially accepted your order – that is the clock starter for the 20 weeks before they are obliged to give you a courtesy car. You can’t be far off that time now if your order got accepted within a week of order placement.

I get it on the 16th September, my order was accepted 2 weeks after I ordered the car.
I spoke to someone at VWCS who told me that it will be equivalent to a golf so it shouldn't be an up.

They use Europa Car - so you'll get a billy basic Astra as that's what they have. I know this as that's the sh!tter I'll be getting next Friday!

I contacted VW CS today and they said there are delays and that I can get a courtesy car from 23/09. I told them I was previously on unconfirmed BW38 and what my BW was at the moment. I was told that errrm... Im still on an unconfirmed of 38 which makes no sense and I could tell that the person really didn't have much of an idea.
I contacted my dealer and was told, after a bit of trying to avoid the subject, that I'm on an unconfirmed BW51 due to the volume of GTD orders. Which is a bit of a kick in the nuts. I ordered start of May. Apparently one of their first GTD orders isnt due till mid October.
Not really much else to do other than wait.
Really hope you GTD'ers expecting a confirmed build on the tracker tomorrow get it but at this rate it seems difficult to know what to believe...
-
I ordered on 26 April and apparently am now build week 38. I was build week 35, 2 weeks ago! The tracker still shows as with the factory. When should you expect build week to be confirmed if the car is indeed going to be built in week 38?
-

About now.
-
So by Monday? If not, does that mean that the car will not be built. I'm one of the rear parking camera's, so am expecting a further push back. If build week is not 38 and goes back any further, I'll be joining you Bill on the cancelation list. Just wish I could afford the 135 as well!
-
Build Week 38 should have been confirmed last Fri. Build Week 39 should be tomorrow...

Me too. There was a brief time when in my madness I tried to convince the wife that she'd like the GTI and I could take an M135i. How foolish I was. Nearly killed the whole thing and ended up with neither car.
You can get an M135i for less than a GTI right now though. Enough to cover the first couple of tyre replacements anyway!

sh!t, you're right! My bad.
-
I was unconfirmed build week 38 and last friday (23rd) the tracker changed to confirmed for me so all 39 orders should change tomorrow.
I am due for build W/C 15/09

Just bunked off work for 10 minutes to go to the post office. I'm approaching a set of lights when I spot a pure white GTI or GTD coming towards me. I didn't register that is wasn't a regular Golf until it was almost level with me and then it was gone. I was thinking "WOW, what was that?". Glance in the rear view mirror confirmed it was a mk7 by the tail lights shape.
I turned around to follow, but unfortunately due to Cambridge's sh!t traffic light timing this took about 5 minutes :( Not to be deterred I guessed it was heading to Vindis VW dealer as it was in that direction so I went there and sure enough there is a pure white GTD demo outside the main entrance. Disappointingly when parked it didn't give me any of the "wow" impression I had got when it passed me. Perhaps a lot of the looks are down to the DRLs as they were definitely noticeable in the split second view I got of the front end when it drove past. Could also have been the sun glinting off it as it was in motion.
One thing was it had "demonstrator" hung in the window, and thinking back now I didn't take note of if it had real plates on or not. So there is a possibility it was a different GTI/GTD I saw pass me, though it does seem a big coincidence if that is the case. Otherwise they put the demo sign up pronto as I was no more than 5 minutes behind it reaching the dealer.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, and when I got back to work I realised I'd forgotten about the post office!
Unfortunately no pics as my phone was all I had and its decided to give up the ghost I think.

See, your mindset has now been morphed to think differently now you jumped ship! ;) When I went to see mine, even when covered in dust and bits of plastic, it looked absolutely stunning - all in the eye of the beholder!
 @ missing the post office though!

Not sure why you picked on that out of the whole of my post. Believe me it was not eye of the beholder as just a few minutes before (as stated above) my reaction was "Wow!". I merely relaying what happened and when it drove past it looked stunning! When I found it parked up it was 'meh'. Not sure why you focus on the second part and not the first...
Anyway I thought in multiple of your past posts you were in favour of the GTI/GTD being "unassuming"? Being that I'm not now getting one I would have thought that would make me less biased. :undecided: EDIT: I take it back, I'm probably incredibly biased!

Bear, just chill a little. With a winky and exclamation mark it was a light-hearted comment in light of you jumping over to BMW, don't over-analyse each and every "why" and "why not" looking for some meaning that's not really there.
Yes, I do like the fact that the GTI is unassuming, while at the same time, in my eyes, stunning.
-
Was having a look at a black GTD that arrived at the dealer today in the PDI bay. Looked stunning, have to admit I quite like (maybe even slightly prefer (not sure)) the interior of the GTD to the GTI. It had the leather, which was great quality, miles above my MK5. There was just something very refined about the interior without the red stitching. Think both look good, but if it was an option (given that I've gone for leather) I'm not sure I'd have gone for it in my GTI.

Really?
The best prices I could find were approx £22,700 for the GTI vs £26,500 for the M135i (both manual 3dr) :undecided:

Maybe you can get into a vanilla spec M135i cheaper than you can get into a GTI heavy on the options. I think most of the changers here had around £3k of options there on their GTI, maybe nothing (or very little on the M135i)?

My GTD is scheduled to be built next week, so hopefully not long now
Good luck with that - no really
Me and Sam were confirmed the same week and due to build week commencing 01/09/13.
Lets see what happens!
Well Sam / Flash, seems things are on track!
