I have just got a MKiv Golf 1.8 turbo and would like to know what should be my first few engine mods?
Any help and advice will be much appreciated! Apart from a ss exhaust the car is totally standard!
-
A forge 007p or 008p recirculating valve then a remap
-
Firstly I'd make everything is in tip top condition; give the engine a full service and make sure all the pipework is intact. Then go for more power
Hope you got deep pockets though :lipsrsealed:

Engine and all pipe work has been checked and is solid! Forge recirc was going to be my first mod, and a panel filter as I've read they are better and will get more power than an induction kit! Would get it re-mapped after that! Is a panel filter the way to go? Thanks for your Info so far!

Start off with a forge 007p then either get a panel filter (i bought the pipercross one then gave it to a mate) and bought a cai instead was more after that dump valve "pssssh" sound than anything, then a decent exhaust maybe replace some of the pipe's with silicone one's then get a remap.. thats what i done

What about the s2k filter?
-
The standard Bosch DV is very good so unless it needs replacing stick with it. A cone filter will flow better that the air box. As you've got a SS exhaust I'd go for a TIP. Forge TIP are good but the SFS super size are the ones to go for. Keep away from the creation motor sport crap.

Sounds like how i did mine but with out the exhaust. Love the cai noise. Gave my k&n panel filter away and my k&n induction kit ,they sucked.

lol ,your sig and still with out a map/ get it remapped.

First thing I did was get vagcom on and made a shopping list for all my errors
A year later and I have finally fixed my 17005!!! :smug:
But honestly if your engine is healthy fisry mode would be a forge 007/008

Thanks for all the info guys! Really would love the pssshhhtttt noise but want my engine to be as healthy as it can be! What I've read so far with panel filters and induction systems has been 50, 50! I am unsure what to go for! Read a lot of people saying that induction kits are a drawback as they just suck in hot air from the engine! I will eventually get an intercooler fitted! I want it to be as cold as I can get it!

Cone filters flow so much better. As for sucking hot air in I'm not so sure. Static on a RR... but driving cold air moves backwards through the engine bay. Any way a big FMIC will take care of intake temps.

Which cone filter would you recommend?
-
honda s2000 filter if you dont mind renewing every 12 months £12-20 they are from ECP or eBay
-
Why a S2000 filter?
-
They are cheap to buy and good gains
Sound good too if noise is what your after

Jetex, Green filters are good and BMC twin cone. At the end of the day it's an air filter buy which one you like the colour of.
