Just got back from a holiday in Germany, went to Autostadt in Wolfsburg (amazing place) and bought a few goodies and took a few photos. No factory tours when I was there due to holidays.
There was a black GTI almost identical to mine in the prime spot in the VW area, a white one too, both very, very popular with visitors.
The Germans love the GTI, I had so many comments and stares it was unreal.
We were stuck in a traffic jam for 2 hours as the autobahn was closed, 3 people came over to talk to me....
Petrol is more expensive than diesel in Germany so saw a lot of mk6 GTDs a few mk6 GTIs and loads of standard mk7 Golfs. No mk 7 GTIs or GTDs, that was on a round trip to Berlin.
The car was perfect, roof box off tomorrow and a good clean. 4000 happy miles.
By the way, DAB radio logos display fine in Germany.

Very nice trip :)
I am going to be in Germany in October time on work assignment, would you say that Wolfsburg is worth popping across to see then? Just for the day or something like that?

Definitely worth it. I did a day trip there this time last year, you'd see it all in an afternoon. Some fantastic metal on display!

If you like your VWs then you will love Autostadt. No factory tours in August though, I went on one last year and it is fascinating.
I am now the proud owner of a GTI towel, thermo mug and dust caps
I declined the socks or boxers.
Why do the DAB logos/slideshows display in Germany and not the UK?
