Hi all.
Sorry to be a bit vague - found an air leak from one of the four round seals on the black plastic bit that comes after the throttle body?! Canna see how to get at them, and what are they called so I can get new ones?!
Thanks, robby

A picture would really help...

Ha ha! Was waiting for that! Sorry, getting on here was hard enough for me! Tickover is rising and falling, so looked on here last night, and cleaned throttle body today. No better, so started looking for leaks. The bit the tb bolts to, comes over the top of the engine, and has 4 holes at front of it, about 30mm each, where the next "bit" joins to it. One of the rubber seals there is broken, can hear it sucking when I put my finger over it.
Waiting for manual to arrive, sorry for no having right names for bits!

Are you talking about the inlet manifold?
-
Aye, could be. Took out two torx head screws, and there was two plastic clips on the sides. It separated a wee bit, but didn't want to force it
-
Sounds like your talking about the injector seal?
-
I'm off out to stick it back together, take it in to vw, get the seal and ask one o the mechanics how to fit them!
Sorry for lack of info, thanks for help and patience!
-
Best of luck pal :)

The best laid plans...
Leak so bad now, car hardly runs! Think it is the inlet manifold. Right under the top cover, joins to a silver coloured chamber.
On the plus side, found a new seal under bonnet that looks like the one for the job! Think previous owner knew about it, but didn't / couldn't put it on. Will search on here on how to do it.
Cheers!

Ok, so it's one o the 4 seals between the upper half and lower half of the intake manifold... Ordered the 4, might as well when it's apart anyway.
Just need to GET it apart now!

This might help you pal :)

No the same as mine, but gives me a fair idea. Seals no in till tomorrow, so will have to leave till later in week.
Thanks for the help!

you have no idea about cars at all.... loving the way you describe things!!!
but straight away I guessed your talking about the injector seals..... I went to vw and they gave me some but they didn't fit and I put a lot of force into them to push them in but no joy so used the old ones again....
there are 8 o rings in total so it might be worth doing them all whilst you got the injectors out
oh and use a how to from here as you will need to release the pressure from the "silver coloured chamber" so petrol doesn't shoot out from "between the upper half and lower half of the intake manifold" lol (fuel rail and injectors lol)
-
Nah, don't think it's the injector seals... 4 seals between two halves, silver bit (!) and black plastic bit that the throttle body bolts to? Six quid each from vw.
Waiting for manual to see what bits are called... Last car was an imprezza, so no used to cars breaking down!!
No tooo bad wi cars - built a locust type car from scratch wi a gsxr 11 engine - carbs - nice and simple!
Totally sh!t wi computers though, hence no photo's!
-
Eh ? lol
-
A wee drop silicone has got it going again till bits come!
-
What engine is it? As I think a few have their 1.8t heads on myself included
-
Ah! Lesson learned!
2.0 gti
Got the new seals today, will do them at weekend - still no sure how much has to come off?!
Cheers

Seals on, cured erratic tick over. Throttle still sticking on for a second after taking foot off though...
