Title: why won't my car stop wagging it's tail!
Post by: billytheboot on 16 August 2005, 12:25
hello all, simple question with no doubt some simple answer. Pushing the MFA stick twice towards the dash should make the rear wiper activate once, should it not? Instead of stopping it continues.... is my car just excited and showing it's appreciation by wagging it's tail?

Had that on my Driver, was the motor that was fecked.  To check remove linkage off the motor & try again. If it still does it then defo the motor, if not spindle is sticky

I got a similar trouble, my front wipers always turn the washer jets on when i hit a bump! Driving me mad, although im hoping its just the stalk thats at fault?!
Will Mk3 stalks fit straight on as they are bigger and chunkier?

MK3 stalks only fit 90 spec MK2s, i.e. with hazard switch on top of column.  They will fit on earlier MK2s with a bit of effort, you have to replace the ignition housing & do a bit of splicing.

Another small note..... If you push the fecker back and HOLD it, you get a wash with about 3 or 4 wipes, with no 'gaps' in between.... Sometimes the motor limit switch doesn't react quick enough on the 'intermittent' setting to catch the wiper in the 'park' region though. WD40 is your best mate here.......
