In an effort to pass the time waiting for a build week I was browsing through the accessories offered by VW and found the 18" Anthracite alloys "Rotary".
I'm quite tempted to talk to my dealer about these, I reckon they'd look awesome on the Carbon grey I've ordered.
Anyone seen these in real life, particularly on a GTI?
-
I've not actually seen them but I had spotted them as well and think they look the nuts.

They're relatively cheap in the accessories brochure too, compared to other 18" alloys. Always worth looking at Ebay.de as there are quite a few OEM accessories suppliers there.

Does anyone have a link to the accessory brochure please, thanks in advance............

Thank you.
VW need to sort their website out. They have a link on another page telling the accessory brochure is coming soon when another link on the same site has the range. Another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to...
-
Those rims look good and not too expensive, you think they let you do a swap for the standard GTD ones.
Brochure is here http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/common/pdf/accessories/golf-vii-accessories.pdf

Did a quick photoshop;

Probably look better in the flesh but seriously considering these....
-
They do look a bit like the mk4 r32 rims

Never really been a fan of dark wheels - needs to be a special car and wheel combo for it to work for me!
-
Dont think it looks good with the red calipers, and better served as a colour contrast e.g. Anthracite wheels on white Golf.

I'm not even keen on dark/black wheels on a white car like the Golf GTI. I think for me it's the fact that with the black tyres the entire wheel can get lost and gives the whole car a strange look.

Hello everyone
These are some pictures from moto-talk.de. I think that on white GTI looks really nice. I consider those alloys for winter.

Nice find mate! They look really smart and i think i might invest in a set for winter too! Wallet permiting!
-
Excellent pics, thanks for sharing!
Tempted by these still, I agree with dark wheels getting lost somehow but with the Carbon grey body it will have a stealth look to it which I kind of like.
-
Another mockup using those latest photos as a basis for the wheel

Yup, look awful on the white GTI, but actually suit the GSG quite nice because of the similarity in colour. Nice if you want that stealthy look, but on a small hatchback like this...nah, save that for the cars that can pull it off properly!
-
Think they look great. Your looking at a couple of grand though, is that correct? Could be a very nice set of winter wheels

Lol, i think the complete opposite! I don't think dark wheels suit dark cars.Think they look great. Your looking at a couple of grand though, is that correct? Could be a very nice set of winter wheels
£260 a corner plus your choice of tyre so not toooo bad really? ???
-
I quite like the current VWR wheels which are quite similar to the above:
http://www.volkswagenracing.co.uk/parts/vwr-18-alloy-wheel-6/ (http://www.volkswagenracing.co.uk/parts/vwr-18-alloy-wheel-6/)
Although the set that Ess-three has are my favourites and i'd love to get my hands on a set!! >:D

Haha, it's all pretty relative mate, I generally don't like dark wheels full stop! A menacing looking Lamborghini in matt black with some dark wheels can look stunning, but I can't remember seeing a normal car on the road that sported dark alloys that I liked the look of.
I guess if you are looking at a set of winter wheels anyway they are a good set and will hide the muck a bit, but at £350 - £400 a corner...nah!

Was thinking of just having the factory tyres put on them and keeping the original rims/putting them on ebay :)
-
I hope he doesn't mind but these are my favourite aftermarket wheels along with BBS CH's and he has one of the best looking mk6's on the forum with some lovely subtle mods.

i've had a Mk7 GTI for two days and the longer i look at it the more the austin's need to go, spotted the rotary's months ago and if mrs w orders that it will be sporting with austins consigned to the garage, th GTD rims look way better
self confessed anthracite fanboy though as keeps the detail which is lost with gloss black and a bit more interesting

Thats the ones! Not cheap with decent tyres mind but you can also have them in different finishes.

They're not much more expensive than the VW ones though?

Fair point. ;D
I reckon i'd go for the CH's tbh.
-
Just wondering, aftermarket vs deal fit alloys - are there benefits on the insurance side of things for going VW?
-
Nope, they'll still need to be declared (officially) so makes no difference.
-
Would you declare the 19" wheels if you chose them as an option? Or just say it's "standard"?
-
Anything that comes from the factory fitted to the car should be fine in most cases although some insurers can be weird and want to know what options are fitted (i've never had this but some have), the anthracite wheels are dealer fit so not standard so in theory should be declared but not sure how many would? ???
-
Yeah I don't think many people declare mods but I think if push came to shove then if you had the alloys on your invoice for the car then you could claim they were "standard" factory fit.
Although insurance companies will probably win in the end!
-
I think these would be better, the "proper" VW motorsport wheels (black or anthracite) because who knows if these cheaper ones are made from pig iron.

They are nice, would be interesting to see the weight comparison. My dealer said £250 each including swapping tyres over from the factory ones...
