Title: ride height
Post by: jonesltd on 16 August 2013, 21:02
Whata gtd ride height difference to R? Gonna get 19 and want less gap between arch and wheel without lowering and wondered if looked daft??? Not worried about comfort ride as trust me mk4 slammed and on £200 coilovers I can stand that for 5 years lol

19" wheels with 235-35 tyres will be more or less the same overall diameter as the 225-45-17 or 225-40-18 that you currently have, so the tyre to arch gap won't change. From memory the .:R is only about 5mm lower than the sports suspension on other models.

So the only way to reduce it is lower it  which I so wanted to avoid....

Absolutely, bigger wheels on a standard height car only accentuates the ride height and rarely looks better.

How much are we talking for springs? ? Dont want it stupidly low like mk4 just so it looks lower and will take 18 or 19 inch wheels can decide which are better.  Need it still to be practical with ride height as roads are terrible and speed humps

less than £200 for H&R springs, that will give you 30-35mm drop and holds ride comfort.

Been reading and the H&R drop a little too much or more than advertised and perhaps the Pro-kit Eibach is better looking stance? Anyone got any pics with H&R and eibach pro-kit so I can compare....either want 18 or 19inch wheels...currently have 17

30mm isn't much of a drop. I doubt you'll find springs that give any less. the springs I run have dropped the car by 45mm and I have absolutely no issues with rubbing or scrapping and the ride comfort is the same as OEM springs.
