sound like a coil pack has shat its self or a blocked pick up pipe
-
Check the coil packs
-
that was my initial thought too, sounds like a misfire from coilpack. ring vw and see if its been in for the recall or if your elageble for the recall
-
Hhhhhhm recall would be a bonus.machanic is picking it up today on hos recovery truck as I cant drive it as I have no brakes for some reason.
Ill ring vw sometime aswell.
-
if you have no brakes as well as it running bad check the brake booster vac line
-
crikey, your engine sounds fcucked

This was my initial thought seeing as you have lost servo assist,ie big air leak in servo/pipe work to it.
-
I had the brake servo pipe split on mine and yes it ran rough but yours is a lot worse.
Duff coilpack would be my guess.

Don't pin your hopes up on the coilpack recall, this is a quote from one of my previous posts on this forum about the recall
took it in to the dealers today, after a prearranged appointment, 5 hours later collected the car.. my coil packs are the unaffected lot. No recall for me, not just that though, the women was listing all these "problems" my car had as if my wheels was about to fall off.. and gave me a sheet with the prices for these problems. One of them was the oil breather pipe had split - wanted £134.28 just to replace it  i don't think so. I then told her i was a trainee mechanic and her face suddenly dropped. For obvious reasons. Anyway, as i started to pull away from the dealership i noticed the car was running even more worse then what i took it in as, i knew what it was. Got back home to find one of the coil packs was unplugged  so i'd been running on 2 cylinders and doing 18mpg just because they wanted more money it seems? just trying to source a coil pack for my car then it will be running perfect again.
the day later i bought a brand new coilpack for £10 and it was running perfect again

wow sounds like 1 of them tractor pull dragster things lol.

Right guys machanic pulled up code p1171 and p1559.he cleaned throttle body out and cleared codes an all was ok for a week.
Then 1st time I had taken the car out on the motorway for a long run it does exactly the same.EPC light on then into limp mode then sounds like a tractor after I have turned the engine off and back on.
Had to call AA out as I was in the middle of nowere.
He brough up same codes, cleaned throttle body and cleared xodes and its running fine again now, fingers crossed.
Any body got any ideas? Do I need a new throttle body?
Is my FMIC causing the throttle body to clog up quickly? Even tho FMIC has been on for 6 months.
Any help apretiated.cheers guys.

Any body got any input on this guys please because im scared to use the car incase the same problem comes back and I get stranded somewere again.
-
Was it a brand name coilpack or a cheapo one? If a cheapo one then thats your problem.

Did you check for leaky pipes. Did you do a TB allingment once cleaned.
It may be that the throttle body itself if goosed going on the p1559 code.
-
Yes mate checked for leaky pipes as I had no brakes either so was checkin for leaks in the vaccume pipe to brake servo and couldnt see any.
1st time it happened my machanic did a throttle body alignment and the problem came back within a week so this time the AA pulled up those codes.he cleaned it out and cleared the codes but I havnt done or needed another alignment yet.
Just scared of it happening again within a week and the missus beeing in the car on her own.

coilpacks dont always produce codes. I think you have at least 2 dodgy ones. sometimes they work fine for a week, then have intermittant problems. I would replace all four for sure.
