Yep 195/50 is the standard size, 205/55's are the wrong size for a mk3.

Ive got 205/50/15 on mine.

195/50/15 can also be used.

If its got 205's on and is rubbing then it's been lowered.

It's the 55 tyre profile  that is the issue here,  205 (width)  is absolutely fine if slightly lowered especially on 15's.

if any of you get a min please take a look at my pics in my new anniversary link its well low that's why I was thinking of changing the profile but don't want to get the wrong ones thanks

Do it,  regardless of scrubbing issues.  55's are incorrect for the gearing and speedo anyway.

As already said 55 is wrong. 50 or lower for mk3
