Had my pp on order since April,
Still no build week confirmed but provisionally 37 so a car in October.
Having originally had leather and then removing it I decided I do in fact want it,
It look good in the pictures and I know someone who has ordered one without so want to be different.
I have just been informed that due to this change the rear view camera has been removed!!
WTF - Why tell me after I make the change.
My dealer is now doing all they can to get it back on but I'm not convinced they will have any luck.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or able to offer any advice?

Can't say I've been in such a position, but that sounds like right royal screw up! Having said that, as you are still unconfirmed it should be possible for them to add the camera back in (assuming the camera shortages were true, but have been sorted out now). What effect that might have is anyones guess.
Just stick to your guns and insist on it being included back on the order as you didn't ask for it to be removed and were never informed about it until now. If you don't get anywhere, there is always the infamous 0844 executive number that you can call, they always love that! :grin:

I will give them a chance to add it back.
My understanding was that there are recent shortages hence it being removed from the pricelist as they could not confirm if and when it will be available again

Yep, that's correct, the camera was removed from the configurator so I would also assume from their internal systems too. That's where they might hit a snag, but as you already had it on your order, I'm sure they will be able to accommodate you somehow.

Hopefully you can get it added back on, but when I was talking to my dealer last Friday he said he didn't want to go digging too far into the VW ordering system when trying to find out more about my order for fear of removing my rear view camera because it is no longer possible to order it. As you previously had it I hope somebody can get it back for you. Good luck.

Reply from VW as forwarded by my dealer.
Dealer claims they were not aware this would happen!
Case raised and case manager to contact me within 48 hours.
As far as I can tell due to them not taking new orders for the camera there is one unit that was associated to my order that will gather dust in a factory corner so they had better find a way to bypass. "Computer says no" is not acceptable IMO

As this option has been removed from ordering from 1st July, it does not exist in SLI, meaning when an order is modified with this option on, it will not let you proceed without removing it.
It has done it to me before and brings up a message but once accepted removes KA1 (The camera).
We have asked previously if this can be added back in to minimise customer dissatisfaction but unfortunately the answer is no"

That's absolutely insane!
Sounds like a massive internal system 'cock-up', not thinking about situations where a customer modifies an existing order with the reversing camera specced!
I'd keep pushing this, it's completely unacceptable.

Tell them you want the Sat Nav free as well as the camera back on!
Ok easy for me to say, but still VW are making a LOT of money out of the UK market and these options are massively overpriced, you can get a high spec 17" laptop for £1600 after all... what is so hard about a 8" touch screen with a low powered processor and 30GB HDD? iPads are higher spec in every area and cost 1/3 of that!
