Title: Airbag fault code
Post by: madsb on 10 August 2013, 14:17
Getting this fault code and an airbag light... :

00588 - Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N95)
            32-00 - Resistance too High

Read that it might be the clock spring / slip ring? The horn, signal lights etc. all work, though.

Any ideas what is causing this? Is it indeed the slip ring?

Cheers.

Had this same fault code a couple of weeks back could be down to the slip ring easy fix if your not to bothered with the airbag  :lipsrsealed: (also will be okay for mot) is to disconnect the battery wait 10 mins or so then remove lower steering cover,un plug the airbag connector and across the two terminals of the loom multiplug connect a 3.3ohm 0.25w resistor and tape the exposed prongs of the resistor up also tape the resistor securely to make sure it cant fall out replace everything and clear the code via vag com then when you turn ignition on the aibag light will illuminate for 4 secs 0r so as a self check then go out :afro: did this to mine and been fine ever since
