Go for it!
I really like the very first mk2 GTI's that were a direct styling link from the Mk1 GTI, door mounted mirrors, wide coachline decals on the bottom of the doors, and the heavily striped 2 tone interiors... Type 19 anyone!

BBS RS012's in 16"
US Spec Hella 3rd brake light rear Spoiler.

G60 Limited.
The right amount of doors.
-
I'd just be happy with one with decent bodywork and not a million stonechips

It is pretty much a cure-all for MKIIs isn't it?
I'll take one and one for the wife to drive, please. 16V AND a grenade strapped to it? What's not to like?!
-
Dark Aubergine or midnight blue (paint that looks black until the sun hits it),
big bumper 3 door.
LHD syncro on a J plate
Just a mk2 shell dropped on an edition35 chassis. All the electrics, auto parking, climate control the lot with everything fitted to look factory.
-
It's got to be a G60 limited for the sheer audacity of lunacy and practicality all thrown together, failing that an Aubergine big bumpered 3dr G60 will suffice.
-
This one

There was a super immaculate red Rallye at VW sweetcorn show today, I'm not really into red cars but I think I fell in love a little bit when I looked round it.

This looks pretty special albeit far from factory issue.

Still not sold!!!!

Yeah, seen it posted on there a few times..
Shame the standard mk2 steering wheel looks all wrong against the modern TT dash... No biggie though.
-
Kinda makes you think twice about buying it when the company who built it have folded and ripped customers off left right and centre.
Sign of the times with the VW scene.
-
my ultimate mk2 would be a small bumper gti shell built to the super touring btcc regs, with a road legal twist!
oh and happich popouts
-
The owner of that syncro is a good guy and fixed a lot of small problems from that folded company IIRC.
A lot of money has gone into that.

It's looks really nice, the colour especially. Just not a fan of the TT dash at all. Have any of you had the chance to drive/own a 4wd mk2?
-
DH has got an ABF'd syncro.

Don't doubt it homes, but both you and I know that original sells better than modified. An original 3dr syncro with the small underbonnet intercooler and aircon would fetch 8-9k all day long.

Driven a Rallye as I looked after JV's for a while.....and I'd have on in a heartbeat!!

Soon'ish...
-
I've ragged the sh1t out of JV's rallye when lewy let me borrow it for off-roading.
Nothing to see here.
-
Golf mk2 Edition One R32 just like the one I have lol.

Where did he get the one piece scuttle rain cover from?
-
custom made? certainly looks better than the strawberry punnet plastic crap that was installing in the factory.
-
I have always loved a standard oak green 16v
Saying that, the majority of Mk2's I see on here are mint. I want one again.
-
Have any of you had the chance to drive/own a 4wd mk2?
Haha - only just spotted that post.
Just a bit
For cheap thrills (although becoming dearer these days) replace the rear ARB on the Syncro with one from a Passat Syncro - removes the pig-on-sh*t understeer and away you go.... spending money endlessly.
Syncro system is very simple and very effective, although if you want to play with more than about 120bhp you need a Passat/Rallye 02A gearbox.
-

Posting off my own quote  I have started myself a lancia delta integrale car fund hoping to pick one up before i hit 25 and tick it off my list. Has anyone here had the pleasure to drive one of those?
-
Gay thread - I already own the ultimate MK2, no contest - poo, boo and loo..
-
it has to be a jade green small bumper 1988 with a 30mm drop/ 15 inch tsw evos/ 2 litre 8v with fast road cam modded head and decent exhaust. oh and a diesel gearbox for relaxed motorway runs. good all rounder in my opinion and low maintanence.

The last generation of the early spec - 3dr '87 white, small bumper, 8v k-jet. So complete with quarter-light front windows and manual mirrors halfway along the door, lhd wipers, 4 button steering wheel - nicer carpets and the more classy red candy stripe interior!
Exactly what my first one was .... and and exactly what I bought this summer
