Why would you drive that then go to a park and ride to get on a bus?

That was exactly my thinking!

Call me crazy... I might do this :lipsrsealed:
Actually I wasn't thinking of the bus, but the Park and Ride places typical have free parking on the assumption you then pay to use the bus, yet there are often cycle routes as well. Being Park and Ride the distances are not huge to get into town so my cunning plan involved leaving a bike at the P&R, driving the 10 miles and parking for free then cycling the last 5 to work. Get fit and cut out the fuel intensive town part of the commute!
Like I say, call me crazy.

For Park & Ride in general, it's often easier, cheaper and quicker. I go to York quite a lot, and always use the Park & Ride just on the outskirts. Parking itself is free, the fare for myself and my daughter is a couple of quid, drops you right off in the centre, and takes you right back to the car park. I'd rather do that than scramble for a parking spot and pay several quid more for the privilege!

I know people who live a mile from the city centre, but rather than walk, drive to the park & ride and get the bus back in!

Erm... sounds like they fail to understand concepts like time and space. Have you tried to explain to them?

What's wrong with that if driving close to their place of work means braving a busy town centre, maybe struggling to find a parking spot and then paying several quid for a days parking? I know a couple of people who used to do a similar thing, saved them time and money.

This sounds like this thread belongs on the old peoples home forum for park and ride
it started as a GTi spotting and ended up as park and ride merits !!!

Why not just walk the mile to work?

It was far more than a mile from the P&R into town. All I know is, relative to them driving the car into town and parking for the day, it was around a third of the cost, saved them sitting in stop-start traffic, and often got them into work quicker because of the bus lanes.

I would say fair enough and good on them. can't see why people are getting so bothered about it

Aye, but it's a kinda' dull subject and off-topic mcmaddy

Anyway... back to topic. Wonder if this is a forum member? :-)

Well not Norwich, but I saw my first GTI on the road so to speak today. Parked a couple of miles outside Wimborne, Dorset a Tornado Red, HX13...
Anyone here?
