Title: Lost 1st and 2nd gears

ive got a 2003 tdi arl with the six speed box, today ive lost 1st and second gears totally out of the blue , there is nothing no noise nothing I can start car in 1st or second with no judder or any stalling ect just no drive there at all so makes me think linkage has let go, has anybody come across this before ? I did post on the mk 4 section as well thinking I was on tdi .
all looks ok under the bonnet

Google says most likely a sheared rivet on the selector fork , bad times

Anybody have any experience with this i'm going to be giving it a try this weekend ?
