Title: VW Order Tracker
Post by: Chief1337 on 05 August 2013, 11:40
Is it me or does it take ages for the VW Order Tracker to actually update?

My dealer has confirmed build week 40 (factory accepted order) - so 1st week in October, but the tracker still hasn't updated. I was told this around 2-3 weeks ago!

I guess this is the same for everyone? Already getting fed up with the wait, I feel for people who are still waiting for cars that were ordered in April!

You probably won't get an update on the tracker until the Thurs/Fri before 4 full weeks away - for you that would mean Thurs/Fri BW35. Confirmed isn't confirmed (whatever the dealership says ) until VW have locked your order out for production 4 weeks before build week.

You should change in bw36 on the tracker. I've lost the plot, what bw are we currently on?

Today is BW 32.

Also Chief, in a way I am coming to the opinion that being told something ridiculous like BW40 is possibly better.

Initially I was told BW39 (after I paid the deposit, before that it was all "you'll have it by end of July") and I was not happy.  However, every time they've brought it forward they have then put it back again.  Perhaps its better to get a realistic estiamate and stick with it so you can come to terms with the wait, rather than their current strategy which seems to be promise that the car is 4 weeks away and will be confirmed "soon"... only next week it is still 4 weeks away... and the week after that... and so on and so forth.

Me too! I will be glued to the tracker from about Weds next week. Are they building all the red ones next week? What colour is yours Pauliem? The week my dad's was built seemed to be DBP week.

Mine is Oryx White and is probably being built with all of the other Golfs designated for the ultra cool owners like me :D

Hopefully there will be a little splash of the special stuff left in the paint guns for your red cars

Ah, I'm just kidding you.  I'm sure VW would never charge money for nothing right? -cough- winter pack -cough-

Totally agree! I'd of gone mad by now if it wasn't for this forum!

I think I have gone mad.

A few nights ago I started dreaming things like my dealer had suddenly called to say my car was ready but no matter how long the dream went on I never seemed to actually get to drive it away.  Another time I'd stolen one and was being pursued by the cops.  I had a mild panic when I woke up from that before I realised I wasn't actually a fugitive.

Not sure its healthy to be dreaming about cars like this.

Haha, I've only had one dream about it, and it was around all of the talk about the Mk6 being sometimes tough to set off smoothly in.  So, I did get to drive mine, but in typical dream fashion it was bunny-hopping and stalling like a trooper

Going back to your comments on money for nothing, Oryx I agree with - so much for so very little!  I also agree with you on the winter pack, but let's face it - leather shouldn't be costing that much, and pro nav...a grand extra for essentially a larger screen!  You just gotta' love the choices we have in life! ;)

Well I was just teasing Pauliem for specing Oryx really .  Thinking about it did they change the winter pack now?  When I ordered I realised after a few days that winter pack basically gives you nothing if you already took leather but I think they may have corrected that anomaly now.
Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: pauliem on 05 August 2013, 13:08
The Oryx is expensive, but it does have value.

Apart from looking cool, being almost the lone contrarian has value it itself! One of the main reasons I chose the colour was so that the car would be exceptional.

I saw an Oryx white GTD drive past the other day - suffers the same "sheen" and appearance that I don't like in all other pearl whites I've seen on other cars.

@bear, yeah I'm pretty sure you got heated seats with leather anyway, so the winter pack only gave you the heated jets etc.
Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: Bill_the_Bear on 05 August 2013, 13:26
His Oryx white is gonna look top banana.

Yeah the (probably ineffective) heated jets.  For £500 was it?  I'm pretty sure one of the electronics guys where I work could design and make a couple of heated jets in about half an hour and costing £2... maybe £5 at the most.

VW

£500 option for £5 at your place? Any chance of them commissioning a GTD for £259?

Yes the options are the biggest liberty that VW takes after build times for GTI/GTD, hence why I haven't taken any out.
Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: Gryzor on 05 August 2013, 13:37
Not sure on the price, don't think it was £500 on top of the leather, but still, it is a bit of a con.  Having said that, so are a lot of the options but if you want them you either pay up or work around it somehow!

I just called VWCS to be told that I had moved back a week to unconfirmed BW37, which was what I was originally quoted when I ordered. I am getting just a little fed up. I almost wish I had ordered a three door GT now, although, when specced up to GTI levels it came to the same price...

Aye - very annoying.

I'm a bit annoyed that the dealer is saying to be 'confirmed B/W 40', but from what you guys are saying that's far from confirmed! Very likely to get delayed, particularly concerned because my spec includes the reversing camera. Would happily drop that if it meant I could get the car quicker!

Hmmm.

Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: Bill_the_Bear on 07 August 2013, 10:45
I'm not aware that VW have ever confirmed an order more than 4 weeks before.  Not to say it can't happen but I suspect your dealer means UNconfirmed BW40.

I'm still waiting for the weekly text update from VWCS before I call them.  Will be posting the result later for you chaps.  I'm not getting my hopes up but I really want to move this away from the standard operating procedure of they say "sorry still not confirmed, expect to confirm next week" and we say "ok will wait another week" and then repeat this every week.  Its not getting us anywhere.

The tracker is great up to a point but I wouldn't trust it entirely. My car sat at in transit for ages even though the dealer told me it had arrived in the UK. He then phoned me to tell me it had arrived at the dealership and yet the tracker was still showing in transit. Next day it moved from in transit to arrived at dealership so skipped arrived in UK all together.

Still it gives you hope when you see those wee icons moving

There is no way he can tell you BW40 is confirmed, its too far away.  They only know its confirmed when its 4 weeks from build.  So he's telling you that its expected to be BW40, however if you have read the various threads you'll see that that means jack sh1t!  He's not lying, that just what he's been told - but its not to be trusted unfortunately.

Fair play - very annoying. :-( Will pester him for an update.

Hoping this reversing camera issue doesn't delay the order.

On a side note, does anyone know when VW's financial year end is? I was thinking, that depending on how the quarters of the year break up they may be 'delaying' orders to balance our revenue throughout the year. Crazy through I know, but just a theory. :-) Could also be tied to dealers, if they get bonuses for hitting a certain amount of revenue in a financial quarter, they themselves may be pushing orders back where it benefits them.

"Thank you for visiting our vehicle delivery tracker. We are making some improvements to the content you see at each stage, so the vehicle delivery tracker is currently unavailable.

According to my dealer and his screen, my confirmed build week is next week (Week 33). Now with all the talk of rear view cameras delaying builds etc (which I have specced), as it' so near to build now (1 week away), is there still the possibility do you think that my build will get pushed back - or do you think as it's so near, it should be rock solid ?

Dealer says it "should" be fine but doesn't fill me full of confidence !

Ordered on the 18th of April and the same thing they've been saying for months "should be" build week 36 but still cannot confirm it. Closing in on four months now. Lots of other cars have been ordered since and had BW confirmed so I think I've got every reason to be suspicious along with the rest of us still waiting.

My Mercedes dealer told me the week my car would be delivered the first day I bloody ordered it! Anyway, my rant is now over. lol

Yes matchboy, for the last 6 weeks or so it's been saying "Build week confirmed", but obviously the tracker doesn't show you which week, but from my dealers screen - it said 33 13

I don't think anyone here has seen a confirmed week go unfulfilled, the trick is to get to that stage. I'm sure BW33 is when yours will be built, along with mine!

Anyway, my rant is now over. lol

The way confirmed builds appear on the tracker should mean that you'll hear by the end of this week (Thurs/Fri) if you haven't slipped from BW36.

Or not as the tracker is being updated, and lets face it it won't be up and running by Thursday!   Your dealer should be able to give you a confirmed BW by Friday though Lagerlout, as you will be 4 weeks from build.

I think they are changing the wording on the tracker from 'Processing your order' to 'We don't know and we don't care'!!
They probably haven't got the parts to make the change though so it'll take a few days to get an unconfirmed build week for the new tracker option

I think they should do a little animation character that will 'sing' a "we don't know and we don't care" song.  Every time you refresh the tracker it will add in another character and increase the volume proportionally.

Would makes things more amusing at least...

EDIT:
When you car is finally built it can drive onto the screen bashing all the "don't care" characters out of the way like skittles.

Come on VW, forget making the GTIs, you need to work overtime to make this happen! (errr, is this what VW management said regarding updating the tracker?)

If you have gone to confirmed I would expect your Golf to be as you specced it.  Surely your dealer would be alerted if there was going to be a change/something missing?

if you've ordered before 30th june and specced the rear view camera your car will come with the rear view camera. when it will come is a different matter but it will definitely have the camera!! I'm  hoping to go into confirmed bw36 this week and I specced a rear camera.

Thats surely a win win situation. If they supply you a car without your specs then its a misbuild. Other misbuilds I've read about online from VW and Audi have generally been dealt with by the customer being allowed to use the miss-built car until the proper specced one arrives.  So you get to use a car "the proper way" until your one arrives.

If somebody ordered one with a camera, and it arrived without one, that will be a genuine mistake and not a supply-related thing.  I highly doubt that even VW, being as crap as they have been, would knowingly build a car out of spec without giving the customer a choice first.

Even if it brought it forward by a month, I wouldn't drop it.  For the sake of 4 weeks to have a car you want vs one that will always be missing something...  Not worth it for me, not on such a considered purchase.

I think its a bit daft for VW to not send the question to each of us who ordered the camera asking if we want to keep it or not, with the promise of a faster build if we drop it.  Everyone one who says they'd rather have the car sooner thats one less camera they need to find for those what won't compromise!

A huge side benefit is we'd all have the real information then and might calm down a bit.

I get the feeling the camera story is a smokescreen, the real reason is they just like to treat UK GTI buyers as mugs. The rest of europe have stock building up in the dealerships just sat waiting to be bought while a few hundred brits get more and more angry.

Hi guys, I've been reading the forum for a few weeks and found everything very interesting.

I ordered a GTI two weeks ago and was told I would be given my order number by the dealer once the factory had accepted the order. I still havent recieved any order number as of now.

How long does it take for the factory to accept the order?

Thanks very much!!

does the tracker list all the options or just the main details

mine shows as red 3dr performance manual, but doesn't list any option like the dynaudio?

also showing interior as titan black which is a GT interior?

My Car
New Golf GTI Performance 2.0 TSI 230 PS 6-speed Manual 3 Door
Colour
Tornado Red
Upholstery
Titan Black

how reliable is the order tracker?
Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: Jimble on 27 November 2013, 13:20
Just the basics, no options are shown on the tracker and Titan black is the trim colour, ie dash and door panels etc, don't worry it's the same for everyone.

In my experience the tracker is quite accurate give or take a week, others have had different experiences though.
Title: Re: VW Order Tracker
Post by: 2014GTi on 27 November 2013, 13:23
Don't worry, the tracker only shows basic info and Titan black interior also covers Tartan interior.
The customer facing tracker site is rather primative and can be inaccurate sometimes.
For example my completely missed the build phase and went straight into transit.
The dealer system is more accurate and you should use the customer tracker as a rough guide.
My tracker has been ok though.
It doesn't show what options you ordered so be sure to endure the dealership has ordered what you want.
Double and triple check your order form.
I added reversing camera and park assist a month after I ordered my car and I was lucky enough to get them added,
My dealership has been great so far :)

Hi guys.

How long does it usually take for the tracker to jump from step 2 "With the factory" to step 3 "BW confirmed"?

When I ordered my car on 28.03.2014, the dealer told me that it takes about a month to get a BW confirmed and that by the end of April I should get a BW from the factory. Now, the tracker has changed from step 1 "Processing order" to step 2 on 16.04.2014 and it's been stuck at step 2 since.
Can't wait to get the car, very excited. A colleague of mine ordered a brand new Cupra mid feb and he is picking it up today.
