Title: How much for 2nd service
Post by: phil1975 on 03 August 2013, 17:01
Car will be due its second service later this year (2 years old) I never took out a service plan when I bought it earlier this year. Has anybody had their second service done outside of the service plan scheme and how much did it cost?

Only information I can find is for the Volkswagen fixed price servicing scheme for cars between 3 and 10 years old and if I know Volkswagen if they can charge more than these quoted prices for a 2 year old car they will....

Well I'm having mine serviced tomorrow by VW for its 2nd year service, and I've been quoted £240. :shocked:

First brake fluid change is at 3 years, then every 2 years after that, so if the OP's car is 2 years old, then brake fluid change not due until next year. I have the 3 year service plan and the 3rd service includes brake fluid change. Link to VW website confirming brake fluid change intervals below;

thanks for all the replies guys, i knew about the brake fluid change not being due till year 3 i'd read that in the service book. So looking at about £240 for service plus £79 for air con service.

VW were doing the air conditioning service for £45 a few weeks ago when I had my car serviced, so worth asking if the offer's still running if you're planning on getting your A/C serviced.

Well I've just picked up my Golf from VW, and was obviously quoted wrong last week (£240).
Because when I was given the bill it was £185.20.   :whistle:
