Title: Engine cut out in traffic

Miles of traffic on the m25 yesterday sitting in the sun. On 2 occasions the engine lost power and I wasn't able to rev and it would then choke and stall. I managed to save it from a stall one time by pumping the throttle. Once it stalled and I started it up again it would drive fine, any idea what it could be?
