Title: Battery draining
Post by: scott-stainton on 01 August 2013, 21:55
Hi guys,

I'm new here so first off, hello!

Secondly, I recently bought a 16v mk3 as a project car. It's not been ran on journeys as its sorn but while I've been sorting the cooling system this week iv noticed the battery is discharging daily. Is there any easy way to test if anything is draining the battery?

Cheers

Scott

Get an amp meter and remove the positive terminal, put that in between the positive terminal and the positive post on the battery. Read the amp drain. Shouldn't be much at all. Not even 1 amp.

If it is higher than say 0.1 amps (just guessing here as plenty of cars are different) get someone to start pulling fuses one by one until it drops. Then you'll know which circuit it is.

Currently doing a Mitsubishi that has a 9amp draw!

It's an iPod adaptor kit killing the battery.

Did you buy that 16v from someone in Brough?
Think the colour was mystic blue? Seen it a few times driving through there.
