I have a welded stainless steel exhaust bought it on ebay for my 8v which it dont fit. It only has a back box do the valvers sound over the top with straight through or is it worth the gains with free flow exhaust over standard system.
-
What I understand decat makes no gains
-
it must make some gain. maybe slight but must make a difference. and sounds better.
-
Ive run a decat on mine for 5 years, defo has a improved throttle response.
Plus it prolongs the life of the cat only using it for one day a year.....
-
Decat not worth the hassle for the very little gains and mot time
-
Plus it gives two fingers up to the tree huggers
-
I decat all my cars just for sound
and does speed up the revs.

Lol very true

Tempted to get a non res jetex system with de cat

I managed to get mine for £26 pound pro flow system I think its like powerflow exhaust system it came of a 16v supercharged golf

Why must it?
If the cat isn't restrictive, removing it won't give a gain...will it?
If the Cat is good enough for a VR6 Corrado, do you expect it to restrict a 2.0 16v Golf?
-
I remember a rolling road session once on a VR6 and it was run with a decat to see what gains it would give, the answer in real terms was nothing.

well in that case the cat was not the bottleneck to power output. but if your going for big power then eventually it will have to be shown the door. and off course its 1 less thing to go wrong if it aint there.
