Will I needs it's Security code or will it plug and play? I'm taking the RCD510 out before selling it.
Cheers
Neil

Plug and play.

Sweet cheers. I'm thinking about putting it in the wife's cab, I take it that the security code that i used for my install will be the same?

Yes if going back in the same car it's plug n play
If 510 is going in another car it will be the same code as original install

Cheers Neil, wonder what her parking sensor display will be like?
-
Not sure on the RCD ?
Should be ok, will just plug into one of the aux ports ?
-
You will need code for 310 as cluster will have code stored for 510

Thought it sounded too good to be true!

The code for the 310 will be in the Cab,s handbook ?
-
It should be plug and play as long as it has been in the car before. The code once entered is stored in the ECU.
If any problems, give vw a ring with the cars reg no. (That it was previously installed in) and after a couple of security questions they'll give you the code.

I think the ecu only remembers one radio code. If you fitted an RCD510 then you should have entered the radio code for that one. If your putting back the RCD310 then you will have to enter the radio code for that one.
No they don't write the radio codes Cab's handbook if you don't have it then contact a dealer with proof of ownership and they should give it to you free of charge.

Plugged and played and the Sec Codes had been written in both manuals.
RCD510 now available - see classifieds.

It does still have a parking display on the screen with LCD Markers from and back only as apposed to markers for each individual sensor. Looks Naff in comparison to the RCD510 though, but better than nothing i suppose

Saw you have your rcd510 FR sale, do rcd310's have any value?
-
Probably about £50?

I would say this is a fair value. You got to remember the RCD 310 is still a good stereo when compared the standard equipment found on the entry level spec cars. The 'S' spec or 'Bluemotion' spec have some very basic looking stereo's, the RCD 310 would at the very least freshen up the dash as it is double dim.

Thanks guys, will pop it an ad up for it then as will leave RCD510 in car when I sell it as I am lazy :embarrassed:
