My GTD Is met Grey can't remember the actual colour, but I've noticed if anything gets on the bodywork like berries or birds muck etc it immediately stains the paintwork! Never had this issue with any car... Spent ages last week with good polish getting the marks out and they're still there.
Tempted to take it to VW as this can't be right?

Ive got one on my bonnet. Sadly it is the modern eco friendly paints. You have to have it well waxed with a proper quality wax or bird muck just eats into the lacquer. You can machine polish it out which I will have done at some point.

Got one on the bonnet of my Estoril Blue BMW within a week of it being band new, etched into the paint
As said modern paint is poor, or the birds have evolved super strength poo over the years....

Ah lovely, so my new golf now has worse paint than my 15 year old mk4, joy! Not bad considering I've had it 2 weeks. I was surprised that anything that gets on the paint stains it, I could understand birds but not berries!
Ill give it a good polish when its washed again, crazy though as I waxed it with a quality product and the berries still marked. Guess I applied to thinly.
Disappointing though paying 5 figures for a car which stains easy :/

Wax will never protect it from what I have read on various forums, very frustrating.

Bird crap will always damage the clear coat if left on long enough but with the current temperatures and the fact that the birds are eating the in season acidic berries then you need to get it off asap, normally a decent wax will protect it for a while giving you chance to remove it but not in this weather.

Soak with lots of water before wiping it off.Not like me with previous mk5 gti.Only had it a month or so and didn't soak it enough. The bird sh!t had grit in it and scratched the roof as I rubbed it.

Ah least it was removed by snow foam and the tough bits by a mit. I can't believe that berrys that have hit the car and then been removed a hour or two later have also stained the paint!
Might see if my mageuirs (sp?) paint renovator will help then ill polish it out.

I had similar problems on my metallic black mk5 gti and I found a degree of success with meguiars scratch x 2.0 removing some of the shadows left by the bird deposits.
But as a result I have decided not to buy another metallic car again, which is a real shame given some of the colours available on the mk7, I especially like night blue!!
