Im looking to diy on some santa monica alloys :smiley: just wondering how well does rattle can spray jobs actualy stand upto a car wash ..will they start flaking and peeling after few washes. Ofcourse will do best prep possible before spraying :wink:

Nav as long as you prepare and prep your alloys you'll be fine anyway more to the point you mentioned Carwash!! now that is swearing why aren't you using the two bucket method :laugh: :grin:

Aslong as a jetwash wont rip off the paint then its kool. Will makesure i prep the rims properly :smiley:

i got like that with my prev car :lipsrsealed: i try and make time now paints not to bad for a near 17 year old car :grin:
Just don't get to close to the alloy or any other painted surface you should be fine :afro: good lad remember preperation is the key get it right and the end result will be good too :afro: liking your 4mo too btw keep up the good work :wink:

Defo will do. Im going to try and source some nice gunmetal style paint tomorow. May go for the colour steves mk4 was. Loved the grey on that. Think it was lc7v or something :grin:

I did my BBS Solitudes over two years ago and they are still going strong.......few stone chips though now :angry:
As long as you prep them properly you will be fine

Well just picked up the rims and they have some bad curb damage on one them. Im not very good with filler so think its going to have to be a profesional jobby :sad: :grin:
Need hunt a decent place in bham to get the rims back to life. Picked them up cheap tho with good tyres and there original vw stamped santa monicas :cool:

yeh had scooby but in the end the price of filling it up etc just annoyed me so i got rid :grin:

Ah man i know. Going to have to wait 2-3 weeks before can get them sorted now. I cant just put them on but want them mint :cool: yh i know you mean about scooby they are high maintenence. Was a sweet motor tho bet you miss the power.

Long time :sad: hate having to wait but wait will be worth it :wink:,exactly they are liked mine but it wasn't as good condition as pics i posted suggest plus it was overpriced tbh,cheers :afro: i did for a start but i'm not fussed about it now glad to have a vw back the mk3 makes up for it :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:

Right so my plan to get the santa monicas too oem finish is not gonna happen. Due to them im having a diamond finish face to them im getting refurb quotes 300+ :cry:
Is there any way to diy diamond finish? :undecided:
I may jus have to get them done anthratic grey. Really wanted keep them oem as they look awesome wen mint :sad:

If you see where i live mate youd know y i use a car wash. Its on main road so aint easy just get out the hose pipe :smiley:
