Title: help needed: seat-belt clicking noise after service
Post by: pisquano on 22 July 2013, 13:05
hi there. I had my 2007 ed30 serviced last week in central london by VW, and right after I got home I started noticing this strange clicking noise next to my right ear, which seems to happen when I accelerate or brake. it's where the seat belt height adjuster is.
it DEFINITELY wasn't doing it before the service.

phoned the dealer who is happy to see my car tomorrow (which I will make sure they do), but is already washing their hands saying they didn't touch anything in the seat belt as part of the service, and if there's now a fault in the belt it will be chargeable.
quite pissed about the whole thing!!!

what would you do?

What are you suggesting? They broke the adjustor?

Unless you have proof they damaged you're going to have to absorb the cost.

Dumb question but have you re-adjusted it to make sure it's not sat on the notch between two of them?

And don't just drive home and stay there if things are wrong you immediately do as you have done and log everything that's said and by who and the dates. Hard one to prove a lot the adjuster is not broken, but its been serviced so should there be anything wrong just argue the toss nicely about how they missed it. The adjuster is there to help smaller drivers in an accident is it not? It sits the belt across the lesser breakable parts of the body if used correctly.
