Title: Po171 system to lean bank 1 fault code??

Just plugged my car in to my pals computer and this came up have done some searching not found much

Any ideas

Lambda sensor is playing up pre cat.

Two options,

1) take it out and thrash the granny out of it for a bit to make sure that it isn't just covered with crap. (google italian tuneup)

2) Swap the dodgy front sensor out for something that is either proven to work or a new one and off you trot.

Well, have they / you put the lambda back in after swapping? They are a bit fragile so you could have just knackered it by banging it around when swapping it out.

I had the exact same problem. It was intermittent.
We presumed it was either a breather hose or an o2 sensor.
After testing the sensor on a diagnostic tool it was functioning fine. Then checking hoses we found one split.

I replaced it with this one, so it wont happen again:

Sorry didn't read the bottom line properly :whistle:
