Title: Edition 35 about to get the 'Milltek' treatment....
Post by: platinum70 on 20 July 2013, 12:02
Car going in to have the cat back 'non resonated' Milltek system. Look very seriously at the Powervalve system, and they seem to have produced a very good product, but I have used Milltek many times and free local fitting by a specialist swayed it for me. Powervalve just too far away and I wouldn't use just any standard exhaust place.

Just hope I am not doing the wrong thing by having non-res. The guys doing it said 'res' for full system but for cat back the 'non-res' sounds really spot on. Although they have offered to change it to the resonated system for free if I don't like it....

I am only just about managing to convince the other half about this element of it.  Got the exhaust on a deal and the full system would have been around three times the price

Plus with the remap I thing there is more than enough happening through the front wheels already!

Maybe an add on in the future

I've got a Milltek cat back on my GTi. Paid £470 in December while it was on offer and fitted it myself.

have to say I absolutely love it. Nice and quiet in low revs while I'm cruising round town, but as soon as I put my foot down it compliments the turbo and always turns head

I had the full turbo back non res on mine for 2 Years, great sound and throttle response,
But to be honest I much prefer the BCS power valve system, had that on for a few months now and it's in a different league

I guess I have just gone with what I know, and didn't trust just anyone to fit it....

I'd be interested in checking out one of your systems. I'm based in wigan, so not far from you guys. do you have a mk6 gti demo car with one of your systems fitted?

2 for that! I deffo want an exhaust going on my car soon!

In fact Pryda, I've been meaning to ask about meeting up so I can hear yours and your only 2 mins away! As soon as I get my car back do you fancy getting together so I can see what it sounds like?

I've had a few Milltek's before in the past and had a non-res on my R32 and loved it but everyone else, wife, kids, friends, neighbours etc etc though it was too loud!

My apologies Nige and it is no reflection of your product. I just wouldn't trust anyone other than you guys to fit it and the logistics from me to you are just too far. I know the guys well who will fit this (Milltek) and it is just easier for me. You need a set-up down South!!

Hey there
Sadly we only have the Golf R demo car at the moment...
Would be happy to talk to you about options on the 6 though as we do four variants...
Cheers

Im gonna wait and see if the intake becomes available first... even though i know it wont. and have to buy it full price  :undecided:

And also, i cant find any sound clips of the Blueflame TBE on mk6 golf....so hard to make a decision.

Platinum, have you had it fitted yet and where do you live chap? Really considering giving mine the Milltek treatment too but want to hear one up close rather than on a video.

How much difference is there actually between sounds on standard and milltek cat back?

I had a Remus on my Astra VXR and was sickened by the contant drone after a while.

I use my car daily so needs to be quiet (ish)

I think it is a good balance for normal driving and then hard driving. I didn't want loud and I would have to say the sound is perfect. I visit customers every day so had to be careful. I can highly recommend it

Did you go for the res or non res version?? Looking at one of these myself and edging toward the resonate version to keep it quiet until you unleash it. Looking for a deeper tone at idle but not much more in the way of loudness!!

The resonated version is quieter than the standard OEM exhaust, you defo wonna go with the non-res, as that is only a bit louder anyway
