Thanks all, if I don't sell the car inc bits ill let you all know.

New car is a 330d m sport with several toys. Did think about the GTD but £100 more in CCT I thought I'd give the the 3 series a punt.

Nice, not so keen on the the F series front end but I'm sure it will make those longer journeys more comfortable with great performance as well.

Is it the 8 speed auto?

I'll still be lurking around on here cos I'll be in a VAG before long. Looking at moving house too so provided we have a double garage a little mk3 VR may be calling. Not ordered it yet so I'll keep you posted.

You'll love the Bimmer, and the Estoril Blue looks stunning in the sunshine

Wish I had been able to get the 330d for my work hack as had one for 24hours and it was effortless driving and power with the 8 speed auto massively impressive, kicks DSG into a cocked hat as its clunky poor cousin.

Look forward to the pics.

Good luck with the sale Ginge, your car looks stunning and I doubt you will struggle to sell it.

I've been there done that, had an old 330d and loved it but then sold it after 4 months and bought a new R32

The new 330d does look nice though and that blue colour is superb

Yes driven one mate and it was all good. A comfy cruiser which is exactly what I need for the mileage, this is the quote which has all of the spec etc:-

Fingers crossed with the sale of mine, I'm not gonna let myself get robbed though.

Cheers

Just compared that to my quote, and I have an additional £103.17 pm in the Services rental, guessing your car isn't fully maintained for that price?

Nice spec though

No mate, sole to my bro and he's happy to pay as we go for the servicing. I'm gonna do their service pack which will cover two services though.

Great spec Neil, pretty much all bases covered there mate. The xenons look great on the BMW. I've not not diven one but the 330d engine is supposed to be fantastic. The 19" alloys will look nice.

I would change the kidney grilles to the m performance full black gloss ones..... A relatively cheap mod and looks so much better IMO.

At the moment I'm middle management for the prison service but I'm gonna be working for my brother. He knows that money doesn't really motivate me but perks like nice motors do, so he dangled a massive carrot and this is the result.

Why do you ask?

Just a thought Ginge, but have you considered opting for the Sport Plus package?

Quote from: Stan876;14370856

Just a reminder for anyone who does not realise, if you order Vis pack and M sport plus pack (£1,900.00) it knocks the full £710.00 (Xenons) off the pack price not the discounted value.

So for £1,190.00 you get all these commonly spec'd extras at a knock down price.

M sport braking system £570.00
19" M light wheels        £600.00
Sun Protection glass     £265.00
Harmon Kardon           £675.00

Total normal price       £2,110.00

The F30 feels a bit of a boat after a GTI. It feels huge and is a PITA to park. But one gets used to it - just. Took me nearly 3 months. I hung on to my GTI for 3 extra months and was constantly swapping cars. I found it really hard to be minus my GTI. But now, that the Beemer has run-in, its something else.

Post by: Ginge 35Edition on 30 July 2013, 21:17
If it wasn't for the fact that can't bring myself to own a five door golf I'd probably have gone for the mk7 GTD, but bev and I have agreed that we should really have a 4/5 door in the lie up. The 330 I borrowed made me realise that it'll eat up the miles with no problem and it seems to be quite a pleasant place to be for 3 hours a day.
Title: Re: It's a sad sad day.......
Post by: am1w on 30 July 2013, 21:38
I agree. Great mile muncher. Fab seats and the HK and Vis Pack are terrific. Very different car from a GTI. The runflats still worry me. As with all cars, the F30 does have its quirks. There's no dual mode for the Climate Control, the Wipers and Indicators can drive one insane and worst of all the music/radio does not reduce in vol when you engage reverse. But the Pro Nav and iDrive are very intutive. You'll be getting the touch iDrive controller which is even better. Enjoy and see you on the other side.
