Please Help
When i start my 89 16v jetta from cold it will not idle it just dies when you put in the clutch.
After running it until it is hot and then restart it after it has done as above it will then rev and idle at around 2500rpm.
Even after blipping the throttle it still stays at around 2500rpm very strange?
I have cleaned out the ISV and you can hear it buzz what should i be looking at next?
Thanks Mark

is it set up correctly?
idle, CO timing?

I am certain that the levels are all ok, i am thinking it is a problem with the idle side.
I need to know what sensors to check on this part of the system any ideas?
Thanks

Other than the warm up regulator i dont think there are any sensors to check. Try playing about with the idle screw on the throttle body. Other than that i would also check your mixture. There is a wright up on this made sticky at the top of this board.

Chk for a split on the hose running to the intake manifold or any breather pipes, sounds like it could be air leaking in after the airflow meter. This happened me a few weeks ago! Replace the blue temp sender (if the 16valve has one?Not sure) these can cause strange idling (they are cheap enough and worth getting just to chk)!!
