Just heard on the radio that Hampshire CC are sending there gritter outs to stop the road from melting. They are spreading crushed rock dust apparently...
Never heard anything like it before, a tad interesting I think...And definitely made me change my mind about washing my car; a quick pressure washing it is!

Some other people who live on my new build estate have had their drives ruined by the heat by simply turning their steering wheel while sat stationary.

Our roads on the Isle of Wight seem to have a habit of melting pretty frequently.
We had a lot of it last year, gritters were out a fair bit.
And just to think, we're usually the last ones to get anything!
-
Blazing ahead with our sh*t roads!
Yay us!
-
-
this will be there excuse come winter when they dont grit the roads
-
Everybody always says they don't grit
-
They've been dusting the roads in East Devon for a few weeks now.
-
We've recently had our road dug up and downgraded to black tarmac and I've already put 4 jack wheel holes in it
-
I do like this hotter temperature, more grip available
-
why don't they just use higher temp tarmac?
-
Because it breaks up in the frost, duh.
-
thers going to be a lot of crashing when it rains,
we were getting some irrigation water run off down the road, you chould see how greasey the road had become with the heat bringing oils up out the tar/b!tchumin add a bit of water to it and it's a skidpan all good fun as long as ou know it is
-
Because it breaks up in the frost, duh.
it does that anyway lol

Melting might improve our roads - the potholes of Sheffield are notorious. They best sort it out before next year or we'll be fishing Tour De France cyclists out of sinkholes all summer
