i have had coilovers previously and am not a fan of how bumpy the ride is, so my question is what are my other options? can i put 40mm springs on my standard shocks? for those that have had coilovers and lowering springs which do you prefer? any recommendations?
im running oem suspension at the mo which feels nice but looks crazy high.

Cheap Coilovers for looks and a hard ride, lowering shocks and springs for handling, lowering springs on standard shocks :undecided: standard shocks will die a quick death

thanks for quick reply. wont be going for coilovers so will look in to getting some decent springs and shocks

you can run upto about 30/35mm on std shocks but if the shocks are a few years old they are likely to fail quickly and you'll loose comfort (I have new shocks on 35mm springs and the ride is a bit stiff!)
b.t.w 40mm is non gti spec (the gti will go down 20-25mm on them unless you go for eibach/weitec who do a specific gti set up)
