Title: The standard diverted valve
Post by: Scott-R on 17 July 2013, 15:13
The black circular valve that sits on your intake pipe and connects to your rocker cover.

I took this valve off and it's no longer a one way valve think I mite have broken it ha

In my eyes this valve if broken would stop the engine from being able to boost up as its a boost leak?

Is this that important if this is broken could this stop my car from boosting up, the turbo is spooling but the boost is staying at 0.

It's actually called the pressure regulator valve.

I thought the point of the valve was once the pressure gets up in the engine it slowly lets it out if it gets too high,, hence why the golf I'm looking at isn't getting any boost because its letting all the boost out?

Im not sure but hows the boost get in the engine, im not sure what the black thing does apart from letting the engine breath

I am on about the breather valve tho, could this valve cause loss of all boost?

We are indeed could this valve being faulty cause total loss of boost?

No it's not pulling fine the car has no boost like a non turbo car.

If my car did this the engine breather thing would be the last thing i would look at . Its a boost leak , dv faulty, actuator on turbo stuck open or faulty n75 valve.

But it's meant to be a one way valve and I can blow air through both ends and everything else I have recently checked (not to say there not faulty tho)

Just think my one way valve isn't one way ha

im sure mines the same as i checked it after getting the car few years ago, last thing you want blocked but i was looking for wire mesh to clean inside it but there was none.

one way check valve to prevent boost going into the PCV breather system.

I dont think a nackered hockey puck would prevent any boost. I'd be looking at downpipe and pipes to intercooler for huge leaks.

There not known to fail ,you can clean them out with gunk and test it after by sucking through it , they get full of crap well mine was after 100,000 miles.   I had to replace all the other pipes and connectors as they were leaking oil gunk and falling apart.
