Title: Independent or Dealer for servicing
Post by: webb4711 on 17 July 2013, 14:03
Have a 57 GTI with DSG which is due a full service and MOT.  I informed the dealership who will price match the independent, therefore I am now deliberating whether I should stay in the dealership network or go outside of it all for the same price.
The independent is Audi/VW specialist "the TT Shop" in Kempston, Bedford so not a mickey mouse outfit.

Where would you take your Golf for a service?

There's only one place of take my eddy, SE Autoworks in Guildford. Owned by two VAG experts, top lads and fantastic rates. I recommend them to anyone

Sustanon400 many thanks for the tip on using Alex at AKStuning of Bedford.  He was both helpful and knowledgeable and my Golf is booked in for him to service.

Appreciated all the views from all the other respondents, mostly which swayed me from using the VAG dealership.

I've been taking my 2005 GTI to VAGtech in Bletchley for about 5 years.

Their customer service is second to none, and prices always seem very reasonable.

They're fully set up with all VAG equipment and ex-VAG technicians.

Always very helpful, and they remember returning customers and their cars.

Only drawback is that their workshop has no letterbox, so can only drop off car when they're open, and it's a long walk from Bletcheley station if you've forgotten to organise a cab!

My car is back there for a service on Monday

Dont bother dealers. They are usually a waste of time (and money).

Take it to a VW specialist.

Had my car serviced yesterday by Alex of AKS tuning of Bedford.  Fantastic level of service and a true gent who goes above the levels of what a service entails.

Highly recommended and will be back next year.
