Title: Coolant leak any help appreciated!
Post by: sar79 on 16 July 2013, 16:26
Hi all, I have just noticed a coolant leak on my 1.8t agu
I have checked it over and noticed its coming from a cylinder connected to the left side of the radiator as you look into the engine bay, I do most bits to my car but don't want to tackle this unless I can identify what this is. I can send pics via email but still struggle to post pics on this site. I think it might be to do with the ac? Thanks in advance.

Hi, yes it's a pool of coolant now and it's all sitting just in from of the drivers side front wheel. The coolant tank has also gone down a fair bit!! Won't be driving it now incase it gets any worse until I can find a possible fix?

That cylinder will be your accumulator/dryer and you get condensation on them while the air on is on. Taste a bit and see if its sweet like anti freeze or water

Thanks for the info on the cylinder. I have double checked it this afternoon and it is def coolant so now I'm pretty unsure where the leak is Coming from. Will have to wait till my vag mechanic gets back from his hols now which is annoying as I wanted it out in this weather!!!
Fingers crossed its a quick fix??
